Today, we celebrate and honor someone who has been a steady, trusted, and deeply valued part of the St. Joseph Museums family for many years. Please join us in thanking Anita Sontheimer, Financial Services Manager, for her remarkable dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to our mission.
Anita’s work has supported every corner of the Museum—from daily operations to long‑term sustainability—and her care for this organization has made a lasting impact on our staff, our members, and our community. As she begins her well‑earned retirement, we wish her joy, rest, and all the wonderful adventures ahead.
Please join us in thanking Anita, for everything. You will always be part of the St. Joseph Museums story.

Milton Tootle Jr. was more than a prominent name in St. Joseph—he was a driving force behind the city’s rise as a regional powerhouse of industry and finance.
This AI‑colorized photograph shows Milton Jr. relaxing on the porch of his family’s summer home on Mackinac Island, Michigan, a peaceful contrast to the fast‑paced world he helped shape back in St. Joseph.
As a leader in the Tootle family enterprises, Milton Jr. played a key role in expanding the city’s wholesale trade network, strengthening its banking institutions, and guiding St. Joseph into the 20th century with vision and determination. His work with the Tootle‑Lemon Bank and other ventures helped establish the financial stability that fueled the city’s growth during its “Golden Age.”
From boardrooms to breezy summer porches, Milton Tootle Jr.’s influence reached far beyond business—his legacy continues to echo through the history of the Wyeth‑Tootle Mansion and the community he helped build.

This Memorial Day, the Wyeth‑Tootle Mansion pauses to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.
Their sacrifice is woven into the history of every community—including our own.
The photograph shown here is an AI‑colorized image of Milton Tootle III, seated on the steps of the Mansion shortly before leaving to serve in World War II. Like so many young Americans of his generation, he stepped forward during a time of global uncertainty, carrying with him the hopes of his family and his hometown.
Today, we remember all who served and never returned home.
As we reflect, we extend our deepest gratitude to the families who have borne the weight of loss and to all who continue to serve.
We remember. We honor. We thank you.
