Stuber Health Center Stuber Health Center is a non-profit organization providing health care to the underserved in St Joseph, MO and Buchanan County. Joseph, Buchanan Co, MO area.

The Friends of the Free Clinic is a group which helps raise funding and awareness for the clinic. In 1913, Daniel Morton, MD came to the St. As a physician, he was concerned about the medical treatment of the poor. Through many efforts Dr. Morton worked to develop Missouri State Statute, RSMO 205.770, that allowed county governments to create a 'Social Welfare Board of (name of county)'. The idea

was to form an alliance between city and county governments to support free medical care to those less fortunate in the community. Additionally, local doctors, hospitals, and nurses would volunteer their time at the clinic to administer healthcare to the patients of the clinic. The Social Welfare Board continues Dr. Morton's vision and passion to provide high-quality healthcare to the residents of the City of St. Joseph and Buchanan County, MO. We have many partners who help us in our efforts. We are grateful for the continued support we receive in our community!

🎀 Normalize this: being heard when it comes to your health.

As women, it can be easy to put our own health on the back burner. We might brush off symptoms, avoid asking the “awkward” questions, or tell ourselves that something is just a normal part of being a woman.

But your concerns are worth bringing up. Your questions are valid. And you deserve a healthcare provider who listens without judgment. 🩷

Whether it’s an annual exam, a preventive screening, a change in your body, or something you just don’t feel quite right about—you deserve to be heard.

Meet Anaidis Serrano Heredia! 👋💙

Anaidis’ journey at Stuber is one of growth, perseverance, and a dream that is getting closer every day.

She first discovered Stuber by chance while accompanying her mother to a medical appointment. A nurse trained in Cuba, Anaidis was looking for an opportunity to continue working in healthcare in the United States, even though she had not yet completed her U.S. nursing education and credentials.

After meeting Keyla, one of Stuber’s Medical Assistants, Anaidis learned more about the opportunity to join the team. She interviewed with Latha and was welcomed into the Stuber family.

Since then, Stuber has given Anaidis the opportunity to grow one step at a time. She began as a health social worker, then trained in laboratory services and medical assisting, and also helped patients navigating medical exams required for immigration processes.

Today, Anaidis has had her nursing credentials validated and has rejoined the Stuber team as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). 🩺

And she's almost there! Next month, Anaidis will take her RN licensing exam, bringing her one step closer to continuing her nursing career in the United States. 🇺🇸

Anaidis says she chose to stay at Stuber because of the incredible community work happening throughout Buchanan County—work filled with love, dedication, and compassion for patients.

We are incredibly proud to be part of Anaidis’ journey and grateful that Stuber could be a part of making her dream possible. 💙
