14,750 hours given to our community.

Hours spent lending a hand, supporting local nonprofits, helping neighbors, tackling projects and showing up where help was needed most.

Last year, 2,397 volunteers gave 14,750 hours through Volunteer United, creating more than $513,000 in value for Southwest Michigan.

Because giving back isn’t only about dollars. Sometimes, the most valuable thing you can give is your time.

That’s your impact. Volunteer with us, volunteerunited.org

Raking leaves and cleaning gutters are important parts of getting a home ready for winter. But for many seniors in our community, that work can be difficult, if not impossible, to safely do on their own.

That's where Rake A Difference comes in.

On November 12, hundreds of volunteers will spread out across Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties to rake leaves and clean gutters for local seniors, helping them safely prepare their homes and yards for winter.

Volunteer team registration opens TODAY, September 1. Gather your coworkers, friends, family, school, church or community group and register your team at rakeadifference.com.

A heartfelt thank you to Kathleen and everyone who participated in the August Pickleball Positive+ Charity Round Robin!

Together, participants raised $850 for United Way of Southwest Michigan in memory of Kathleen’s sister, Colleen Curtis. We’re incredibly grateful that you chose to honor Colleen’s memory by giving back to our community.

Feeling inspired? You can turn something you love into a way to give back, too! From pickleball tournaments and 5Ks to birthday fundraisers, friendly competitions and more, there are plenty of ways to raise funds for United Way of Southwest Michigan.

What do you want the future of downtown Benton Harbor and its riverfront to look like?

A community design process is underway to create a vision and action plan for housing, economic development, downtown Benton Harbor, and the riverfront. And that process needs input from the people who live, work, visit, and care about the community.

A short community survey is now open, and it only takes about five minutes to complete. Every response will help shape a plan that reflects the needs, priorities, and ideas of the community.

Use the link to take the survey by September 3. Your voice can help shape what comes next for Benton Harbor. https://ow.ly/zjOE50ZB1IF
