Saturday night we gathered for our annual appreciation dinner. We also celebrated a lifetime of service, courage, and leadership. Chief Jim Jonatzke has been more than a leader — he has been a mentor, a protector, and a friend to this community. For 40 years, he’s answered the call, day or night, without hesitation, putting others before himself. He’s led with steady hands, a brave heart, and an unwavering commitment to keeping us safe.
His dedication has inspired every firefighter who’s served under him, and his legacy will live on in the values he’s instilled — teamwork, integrity, and service above self. Though he may be hanging up his helmet, he’ll always be part of this family. On behalf of all of us, thank you for your sacrifice, your leadership, and your heart. We wish you nothing but joy, health, and well-earned rest in the years ahead.
Congratulations on your retirement, Chief — you’ve more than earned it.
