🚨🖤🤍 PLEASE READ — BLACK & WHITE KITTEN ADOPTION PAUSE 🤍🖤🚨

From September 30 through November 5, Animal of SW MI will be pausing adoptions of black and white kittens and cats. There will be no exceptions during this time.

Halloween can bring extra attention to black cats, and while we know many people have wonderful intentions, we simply cannot take chances with the safety and well-being of the kittens and cats in our care. Whether it’s an impulse adoption, using an animal as a Halloween prop, intentional harm, or another unsafe situation, their safety has to come first.

If an approved adopter needs to wait a few extra weeks, we know they’ll understand. 💕 A little extra time is worth it when it comes to protecting these precious babies.

⚠️ Our general intake is currently very limited because our wonderful foster families are at capacity. That means we may not be able to take in every kitten or cat who needs a place right now. If you happen to find a black or white kitten or cat who is truly in danger or needs immediate help, **PLEASE reach out to us.** We will always do our best to help keep them safe.

We have LOTS of kittens and cats who are ready and waiting for their forever homes! If you’re looking to adopt, please check out the animals already in our care by visiting our website.

Black and white kittens and cats already in our care will remain safely with us or their fosters until after November 5.

This decision is simply about taking an extra precaution during a time when black cats receive increased attention. Our responsibility is to protect the animals entrusted to us, and their safety will always come first. 🖤🤍

Please help us spread the word, keep an eye out for community cats, and if you see a black or white kitten or cat who needs help, reach out.

We know this pause may be disappointing for some adopters, and we truly appreciate your understanding. These little lives depend on us to make careful decisions for them, even when those decisions are difficult. 🖤🤍

Please send all your good thoughts and prayers to little Basket. ❤️🐾

Basket was found by an amazing gentleman who recognized that she needed help immediately and made sure she was turned over to Animal Aid so she could receive the care she desperately needed.

After evaluation, we learned that Basket has a spinal injury, and unfortunately, she may never fully recover from it. She struggles with going to the bathroom and is at risk for urinary infections, so she will need continued monitoring and veterinary care.

Despite everything she has been through, Basket continues to make strides. She is showing us that she wants to keep fighting, and we are determined to give her the best quality of life possible. A wheelchair is currently on order to help her get around and enjoy life more comfortably while we manage her symptoms.

Basket will remain with one of our wonderful foster families and under veterinary care for as long as she needs us. We don't know exactly what her future will look like, but we do know she is loved, cared for, and surrounded by people who will not give up on her. ❤️

Please keep this sweet little girl in your thoughts and prayers as she continues her journey. Every bit of love and encouragement means so much. 🙏🐾❤️
