We want to wish our former FES Drill Status Fire Chief, and now retired Mission Support Group Chief, CMSgt Mearl O’Dell, a happy retirement from his military service.
Chief O'Dell, you have demonstrated exceptional leadership and grace throughout your career, moving from NCO to SNCO to Chief with a consistent display of humility and servant leadership. This commitment will surely leave a lasting impact on the generation to follow.
None of this journey would have been possible without the original “Odie” who introduced Chief O’Dell (Odie the Second) to the 139th. Your great affinity for your father, and the drive to make him proud, is a testament to your character.
You have served with unwavering integrity, fairness, dignity, and respect—both given and earned.
The 139th Fire Department sincerely thanks you for your service, Chief. Thank you for everything; enjoy your extended vacations without worrying about reporting for duty.
