Restoration Ministries A Chapel Ministry of Gratiot County Hope House
Chapel gatherings Wednesdays @ 7pm
theTABLE gatherings Sundays @ 4:30pm (in homes)

We gather for worship & conversation each Wed. night @ 7pm as an extension of the services of Gratiot County Hope House. We are not a traditional gathering in that we center our time around conversation and not lecture-style teaching. We also gather each week on Sun. afternoons for, what we call, theTABLE. We meet at a rotation of homes for a simple, potluck-style meal and share life around...the table.

hey church, don't forget that tomorrow, wed. the 26th we have chapel. it's been a couple of weeks since we've gathered so i hope that many of us are able to join. we'll be offering both the in person gathering as well as the on-line connection. it should be a good conversation as we jump back into fall.
hope to see you wed. the 26th at 6:30.
maybe even consider inviting a friend to come with you.

we're glad you've decided to join us tonight. it's been a few weeks since we've gathered. so we're going to do some review of things we've talked about recently and then dive into some new things.
feel free to engage in the comment section as this always is better when we engage together.

hey church, don't forget that tomorrow, aug.5 we return to chapel @ 6:30.

we'll be both in person and online. it'll be good to be back together again after a couple of weeks off. hope to see you then.

so glad you've chosen to join us tonight. because of the extreme heat & air quality we've decided to meet only online.
hopefully - at some point - we'll be able to meet again in person.

if you have questions or a comment tonight don't hesitate to drop it in the comment section, i'll do my best to respond to them as they come up.
these conversations are best when you speak into what we're doing.

hey church - because of the extreme heat and the air quality warnings for today we are ONLY going to do chapel online tonight.
it seems like a good night to stay indoors.
hope to see you tonight at 6:30.
ONLINE ONLY

hey church, don't forget - we DO NOT have chapel tonight. we're off this wee because of summer. so make sure you're somehow enjoying the summer.

i did want to give you a bit of food for thought today. what's below is something that i've been toying aroud with, a collection of thoughts from a few sources that shaped our conversation last week. maybe consider the question & brief answer & seek out some ways that you may be able to practice this kind of love.
__________

the most significant bit of instruction and loudest command in an answer to the question: "how do i become more like Jesus?"

practice agape love.

the kind of love that is invitational, self-sacrificial, with high regard for the other.
this kind of love doesn't coerce, it doesn't use guilt or shame.
it simply invites others to come close through a love that welcomes all to simply "come and see."

this "cone & see" invitation removes the pressure to always say the "right things" and simply asks others to join you as you walk with Jesus.

hey church, don't forget that this wed., the 8th, we DO NOT have chapel.
this week we're taking a break because - summer.
plan on rejoining us next week the 15th.
if you're interested i'll try and put out something wed. to further our conversation. it may be helpful just to prime your thinking.

love you all, see you next wed. the 15th.

building on our conversation from last night on the bounded & centered set approach to the life & ministry of Jesus:

some of the difficulty within "church-world" is the idea of HOW church works, and what methods & structures are used within the church.

the bounded-set says: "this is how we do church, this is when we do church, these are the kinds of leaders we employ, this is the way leadership operates."
and those statements are foundational to the experience of the church. meaning they don't have much room to move or shift; even if the shift is to a more healthy way of being. in short, the boundary becomes the dictator to the rest of the system.

when it comes to those structural elements of church-world, the centered-set mode of being is always reminding those within the structure and those outside the structure that the focus isn't the preservation of the structure itself. instead, the focus or most important part of the structure is the center.

the center is primary, not the boundary. so the center always reminds the whole what it's doing, what its structure is serving. so the center is always the focal point.
with the bounded-set the boundary becomes primary and then easily dictates the whole.

if you'd like more on this and missed our conversation last night on the bounded & centered-set practices of Jesus just scroll down a bit and click the video link.

because of the extreme heat conditions we are only gathering online tonight. we hope you're able to join us.
we know that this is not the most optimal way of gathering but with the heat conditions what they are in central mi. we felt this was best.

if you have something to add to the conversation please don't hesitate to engage. your conversation is what helps it be as full as possible.
