Congratulations to Bailey Herbstritt, this year's recipient of the Hailey Matheson Memorial Scholarship!

The Hailey Matheson Memorial Scholarship Fund was established at ECCF in Hailey's memory by her parents, Chris and Ali Matheson.

Hailey radiated light and joy to those around her, she loved her family and friends. She was a bright second grade student at Francis Grandinetti Elementary School in Ridgway and an exceptional and friendly child. Hailey touched the hearts of many lives in the community and was known to stand up for a friend and always wanted to help others. Hailey’s contagious smile and laughter were unforgettable to anyone that knew her and she had the carefree ability to find adventure in the ordinary.

Donations to Hailey's fund can be made online at www.elkcountyfoundation.org by clicking on the Donate Now button or checks can be mailed to the Foundation, PO Box 934, St. Marys, PA 15857. Please make checks payable to ECCF and include the fund name in the memo line.

📣The Elk County Community Foundation (ECCF) is pleased to announce the awarding of 2026 grants from The Greater DuBois Area Community Endowment Fund. The fund was established at the Elk County Community Foundation through the estate of a generous donor. The intention of the fund is to benefit the residents of the DuBois area through charitable distributions to community organizations, with the hopes to continue to grow the fund through donations from the community.

📣During this year’s granting cycle, six area organizations were the recipients of a total of $18,290 in grant funding to support programs that improve the quality of life for area residents.

💰Grants were awarded to:
➡️Catholic Charities Counseling and Adoption Services for Emergency Financial Assistance: DuBois ($1,000)

➡️Cultural Resources, Inc. for electrical wiring of the Reitz Theater of CRI ($2,400)
