St. Marys Community Foundation The St. Marys Community Foundation is a public trust fund, founded in 1974. It was started to provide a means for flexible administration and conservation

It was started to provide a means for flexible administration and conservation of gifts of money and property from public spirited citizens, corporations or groups. The Internal Revenue Service has designated the St. Marys Community Foundation as a “public charity.”

The scope of the Foundation includes every aspect of St. Marys and the surrounding area’s vitality. The Foundation is aware of the s

ocial needs of the community. The Foundation serves to distribute funds to help the community meet religious, scientific, literary, educational, recreational and charitable goals. As a donor to the Foundation you can share in the goal of making our community a better place to live for all citizens. The Foundation also provides a way for your family’s name to live on forever.

The St. Marys Community Foundation awards many scholarships to Memorial High School and area students. We also are home to funds that provide scholarships to Wright State Police Academy students. Top left photo - Cadet Kendall Dorsey received a $1,000 scholarship from the William Applegate Scholarship Fund. Top right - Cadets Alex Orgill and Caiden Berry each received a $1,000 scholarship from the Carpenter Family Scholarship.

Congratulations to these cadets and thank you to the William Applegate Scholarship Fund and the Carpenter Family Fund for supporting Wright State Police Academy and its students.

Cal Caywood presented 2 $500 scholarships from the St. Marys Community Foundation to Lillian Rammel and Morgan Rempfer, who are both attending Wright State University Lake Campus. The WOEF Board at Wright State will match these 2 scholarships with $500 each. Congratulations and thank you to the WOEF Board for matching the scholarships!

The Comus Scholarship for $1,000 is awarded to an MHS senior who wishes to pursue higher education. Jeff Vossler presented the scholarship award to 2026 MHS graduate, Carly Craft. The Comus Scholarship also provides that second scholarship may be awarded when there are available funds. A $500 scholarship was awarded to Morgan Henschen. Congratulations and thank you to the Comus Scholarship fund.

The Richard Vornholt Scholarship is awarded in memory of Richard Vornholt, an avid Roughrider sports fan. The scholarship is for $1,000 and is renewable. On June 10th, Cal Caywood presented the Vornholt Scholarship to Tate Hisey, Cadence Hirschfeld, Brayden Hoehn, Ella Jacobs, Halle Huston, and Charley Spencer. On June 10th, Kurt Kuffner presented the James & Grace Young Scholarship to MHS alumni Mitchell Clausing, Ray Walter and Ryan Monfort. Mitchell is a 2024 MHS graduate who will be a Junior at the University of Toledo where he is working on a degree in Education. He aspires to be a high school math teacher. Ray Walter is also a 2024 MHS graduate who will be a Sophomore at the University of Cincinnati where he is working on a degree in Electrical Engineering. Ryan Monfort is a 2026 MHS graduate who will be attending The Ohio State University Lima to study Education. Congratulations and thank you to the James & Grace Young Scholarship Fund!
