Please read this important bus safety information brought to you by the Wright County Sheriff's Office.

🚍 Back to School Means Bus Safety! 🚍

Yellow Flashing Lights: Slow down and prepare to stop. The bus is about to pick up or drop off students.

Red Flashing Lights: STOP. Do not pass or come within 20 feet of the school bus. Remain stopped until the red lights stop flashing.

⚠️ Remember: On multi-lane roads without a physical barrier or raised/depressed median, traffic in both directions must stop when a school bus has its red lights activated.

The Wright County Sheriff’s Office actively investigates school bus stop-arm violations and patrols areas where repeat violations occur.

💲 Penalties include:
• Minimum $500 fine for failing to stop.
• Passing on the right or passing when children are outside the bus may result in a gross misdemeanor.

📵 Drive distraction-free, obey the speed limit, and be extra alert during morning and afternoon school bus routes.

Drive Mellow. Look for Yellow. Help get every child to and from school safely. 🚌

Due to dry conditions, we need everyone to do their part and reduce non-essential water use.

Summer means higher water use as we care for our lawns and landscaping. Following the City's seasonal watering schedule helps make sure there is enough water for everyone, including critical needs like fire protection.
June 1 – September 30:
💧 Even addresses: Water on even-numbered days
💧 Odd addresses: Water on odd-numbered days
💧 No watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
🌱 Planting new sod or seed? Contact Veolia at 763-497-3611
📢 Please note: Sprinkling fines start at $75 and go up by $25 for each additional violation.

Thank you for helping conserve water and protect our community's water supply during this year of low rainfall.

🐻 Bear Sighting in the Area

A bear has recently been spotted in our community. While bear sightings are uncommon, they can occur as bears travel in search of food. The best way to keep both people and bears safe is to avoid attracting them.

Here are a few simple steps you can take:

• 🗑️ Secure garbage and recycling containers until the morning of pickup.
• 🍖 Clean outdoor grills after each use.
• 🐦 Bring bird feeders indoors if bears have been seen nearby.
• 🍎 Pick up fallen fruit from trees and remove other food sources.
• 🐶 Feed pets indoors and store pet food inside.
• 🚪 Keep garage doors and ground-level windows closed when possible.

If you encounter a bear:
• Stay calm and keep your distance.
• Never approach or feed a bear.
• Slowly back away while facing the bear.
• Keep pets leashed and under control.
• Call 911 immediately if a bear is acting aggressively or poses an immediate threat.

By removing food sources and giving bears plenty of space, we can help keep our community safe while allowing wildlife to move through the area naturally.

Thank you for doing your part to help keep both residents and bears safe! 🐻🌲
