Tomorrow, August 27th, will be one year since the Annunciation tragedy. Join our South Minneapolis community to remember 💙 Harper and Fletcher 💚 and honor the resilience of our Annunciation community through a day of service.

You can participate by donating school supplies and care supplies, or join us to plant a tree and pack a care kit for homeless youth.

This week, the U.S. Supreme Court struck another blow to our democracy allowing big donors to circumvent campaign finance laws by laundering their huge contributions to candidates through political parties. As co-chairs of the Inclusive Democracy Caucus, my colleagues and I released the following statement:

As our community prepares for Fourth of July celebrations, we recognize that this holiday may feel different for many members of the Annunciation and Minneapolis community.

For some children, families, staff, parishioners, and neighbors, the sounds and smells of fireworks may bring back memories of August 27. Everyone's experience is different, and every person's response is valid.

We are grateful to our neighbors for the care and compassion they continue to show our community. If you're planning to celebrate, we invite you to be mindful of those who may be impacted by loud, unexpected fireworks and to consider attending one of the many professional fireworks displays throughout the Twin Cities or celebrating in other ways.

Thank you for helping make our neighborhood a place of kindness, understanding, and hope as we continue healing together.
