I’m so excited to work with the Dakota County Historical Society on the Heroes & Heritage Trail, a 23-mile loop linking Inver Grove Heights, South St. Paul, and West St. Paul!

This year’s $300,000 investment I secured will help fund the trail, including waysides and interpretative markers highlighting local Minnesota history. Grateful to be a part of this community effort.

"The Voting Rights Act was created to ensure that the voices of Black citizens could be heard in this country. It also prevented the effects of racial discrimination when jurisdictions created maps that would dilute the Black vote and Black representation in government.

Yet, in one lifetime the VRA was created and now dismantled by the MAGA movement to silence Black Americans. As a nation, we cannot allow regressive policies to return us to those dark chapters of our history.

The Trump administration and the conservative majority on the Supreme Court continue to dismiss the lived reality of Black women, churches, and grassroots organizers who have fought—and died—resisting systemic racism. This MAGA-aligned Court is not interpreting the law; it is actively working to silence the voices of Black communities.

Stripping Americans of their ability to participate in the democratic process is more than a legal setback; it is an affront to multi-racial democracy and the historic legacy of Black Americans in the country. Appreciation post: My dear friend and colleague, State Representative María Isa Pérez-Vega, is retiring from the Minnesota House of Representatives after serving two terms. She has been an outstanding district partner—advancing policy for our young multilingual learners, securing investments for our small businesses, supporting expanded cultural arts programming, and improving our parks and natural amenities, and so much more.

We have accomplished a lot together to make our vibrant city of West Saint Paul the best it can be for all our residents. She will be missed dearly, and I wish her and her family nothing but the best in her next endeavors.

As your state representative, I am honored to advocate for our community at the Legislature. I am excited to share that last night we passed a $1.2 billion Infrastructure and Jobs Bill! A significant portion of this funding will be coming back to our district, including support for 150 Thompson Park.

Incredibly proud of our Education Finance team! Thank you to our amazing and knowledgeable staff, Polly and Lauren, for your hard work and all the late nights you put in to ensure our legislation is the best it can be for our students and teachers. We couldn’t do this without you. I’m grateful to Chair Youakim for her dedication and commitment to empowering us, centering our students, and providing the resources and tools needed for student success.

Finally, I’m exceptionally thankful for my West Saint Paul district partner, Rep. María Isa Pérez-Vega, for always working with me to advocate for critical investments in our communities. This job has its hard days, but working alongside these outstanding ladies makes it so much brighter and better.

As I reflect on the last day of the 2026 legislative session, I am overcome with gratitude and pride to have the privilege to represent our community's values at the Capitol.

It was a somber start to session with the loss of Melissa and Mark weighing on our hearts. In honor of her legacy, DFLers were laser-focused on serving all Minnesotans and dedicating each day to improve their lives and our communities.

Smiling is healing and doing good work alongside all of you has been an absolute joy. Thank you to all the testifiers, students, visitors, and advocates who spent time with me and shared your experiences and stories to help shape our legislative decisions.

As the saying goes, "we all do better when we all do better." 💙🙌🏾
