Common Cause MN is a nonpartisan grassroots organization dedicated to upholding the core values of American democracy. We work to create open, honest, and accountable government that serves the public interest; promote equal rights, opportunity, and representation for all; and empower all people to make their voices heard in the political process. In this spirit, Common Cause MN serves as an indep

endent voice for change and a watchdog against corruption and abuse of power. Together we employ a powerful combination of grassroots organizing, coalition building, research, policy development, public education, lobbying and litigation to win reform at all levels of government. Founded with 4,000 core members in 1970 to serve as a people’s lobby, Common Cause has grown into a nationwide network of more than 700,000 members and supporters, with offices in 35 states and Washington, D.C. Common Cause MN;s membership and supporters is 10,350+ strong, from various political leanings. To make our democracy work, we must claim it as our own. John Gardner, Common Cause’s founder, wrote that, “The citizen can bring our political and governmental institutions back to life, make them responsive and accountable and keep them honest.

Minnesota’s food landscape is shaped by its diverse communities, reflecting the histories and cultures of the people who call it home.

The first Chinese restaurant in Minnesota, Canton Café, opened in Minneapolis in 1883, founded by the Woo brothers, Woo Yee Sing and Woo Du Sing.
