Minnesota Housing

Minnesota Housing For 50 years, we’ve invested in safe, decent and affordable housing and strong communities. Minnesota Housing is the state’s housing finance agency.

We finance housing that low and moderate-income Minnesotans can afford while helping Minnesotans buy and fix up their homes. Along with fostering strong communities, we provide resources to stabilize neighborhoods, communities and families. We work cooperatively with others to support the development and preservation of affordable rental housing. For more than 50 years, we’ve worked to provide acc

ess to safe, decent and affordable housing and to build stronger communities across the state. In 2024, we distributed $1.96 billion in resources and served 73,650 households. Social Media

Good news for house hunters! You have more options today than in the past 7 years. 🏘️📈
Even so, Minnesota's housing supply is still short of a balanced market.

According to new data from Minnesota Realtors, Minneapolis Area Realtors and the Saint Paul Area Association of Realtors, the inventory of homes reached a seven-year high in July.

A new Redfin report shows buying a home can be out of reach for many people, but Minnesota programs may help first-time buyers cover upfront costs.

Ownership. Consistent, affordable payments. Security from eviction.

That's what the Community Land Trust model offers. Because CLTs acquire land and hold it in trust, homes are more affordable than they are in the for-profit real-estate market. The planned list price for these City of Lakes Community Land Trust homes is $165,000.

We know northern Minnesota is still reeling from active wildfires. 😔

We also know it can take a while for disaster funding to be made available. ⌛

That's why, right now, our focus is on damage from storms that occurred on June 21, 2025. If you are a Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe member or descendant looking for assistance with repairs, contact Chris from Woodland Bank to learn about this deferred, zero-interest loan.

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the northern Minnesota wildfires, especially those who call that area home. As of right now, there has not been a presidential disaster declaration, which is required for state funding to kick in. We are grateful for the local, community-based support and the firefighting crews risking their lives to protect lives, property and natural resources. Stay safe, Minnesota. ❤️

As Minnesota families deal with rising costs, they should not be in danger of losing their homes. Thanks to this investment in trusted partners and property owners, about 11,000 families in a housing crisis will stay safely housed.

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Governor Tim Walz today announced that Minnesota Housing is deploying a $40 million investment to 24 Family Homeless Prevention Assistance Program (FHPAP) administrators across Minnesota, allowing assistance to begin reaching approximately 11,000 households. The investment was pr...

Built in 1926 as a nurses' dormitory for St. Joseph's Hospital, Mary Hall has provided shelter and housing ever since. ❤️‍🩹 Now, after a renovation by the nonprofit housing provider Aeon, it holds 88 modern, permanent supportive housing and efficiency units — including 17 homes specifically for veterans. We are so proud to be part of its story of community care!

Congrats to everyone who made it happen, including:
