I am proud to be the chief author of the SGU Veterans bill that passed this year.

Today I stand with my fellow legislators, Governor Walz, Commissioner Lindsey, Deputy Commissioner Johnson, Director Kelly, Community leaders, and especially our SGU veterans for the Ceremonial Bill Signing.

Our Special Guerrilla Unit (SGU) veterans answered the call to serve, sacrificed greatly, and played a critical role alongside the United States during the Secret War in Laos. For far too long, many of these veterans have waited for the recognition they deserve.

This bill is an important step toward honoring their service and ensuring that future generations remember their contributions.

Just like the color orange, gun violence can’t be ignored. It is the color used by hunters to protect themselves, meaning “don’t shoot”.

We wear orange to honor the countless lives touched by gun violence every day in the United States. Who do you for?

Happy Pride Month to all LGBTQIA+ Minnesotans! You will always belong here. You deserve to be fully loved, known, and celebrated.

Today and every day, Pride remains a necessary act of love, resistance, joy, and survival. We’re not just celebrating; we’re advocating for a Minnesota where everyone can thrive.

The Senate DFL will never back down from protecting the right of LGBTQIA+ people to live freely and safely — in every corner of this state.

Community Schoolyard Celebration
At Brooklyn Center Elementary today.

This is what a Community Schoolyard Grant Program can do. Imagine schoolyards across Minnesota — transformed into welcoming, vibrant, accessible spaces for play, for learning, for gathering, for connecting with nature, and for connecting with each other.

Thank you to the Trust for Public Land because their work here has been extraordinary. They didn’t just show up with a blueprint. They showed up with a belief that every child, in every community, deserves a safe, beautiful, inspiring place to play and learn and grow.

Shout out to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, Senator Amy Klobuchar, Senator Tina Smith, Representative Samantha Vang, Senator Scott Dibble, and HC Commissioner Jeffrey Lunde for all of your advocacy

Memorial Day is a time to remember not just the fallen, but the values they fought to protect—freedom, democracy, and unity. As we enjoy the beauty of Minnesota this weekend, let's carry their memory with us and recommit to serving our communities with purpose and humility. May we always be worthy of their sacrifice.

On this Memorial Day, we remember and honor the veterans of the Secret War in Laos who fought alongside American troops in one of our nation's most difficult conflicts and have lived in our communities for decades.

This year, we took an important step to establish a formal benefits framework that gives these veterans the recognition they earned. Minnesota sees you, and we honor your sacrifice.

Each May, we celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and voices of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. We continue to uplift the strength and impact of AAPI immigrants, activists, leaders and community members and celebrate their resilience, creativity, and accomplishments.

I am Proud to represent SD38 at the Capitol.

Last night at midnight, the 2026 legislative session officially came to a close. This year, we passed major legislation and investments that will impact communities across Minnesota for years to come.

Here’s some of my bills I was extremely proud to lead on and we pass this session for my district:

✅ $3 million for Brooklyn Center Opportunity Site infrastructure improvements to support redevelopment and future economic growth
✅ $7.5 million for the Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center Athletic Facility to expand recreational opportunities for families and youth
✅ $1.6 million for City of Osseo infrastructure projects
✅ $400,000 for the Organization of Liberians in Minnesota Community Center to support community services and programming
✅ Permanent crossbow use during archery season, expanding accessibility and participation for hunters across Minnesota
✅ HOA Reform legislation focused on increasing transparency, accountability, and protections for HOA homeowners

Major statewide legislation I advocate for and we passed:

✅ $205 million for HCMC and Hennepin Healthcare to protect critical healthcare services and safety-net care
✅ A $1.24 billion bonding bill investing in infrastructure, roads, bridges, water systems, public safety, higher education, and community projects across Minnesota
✅ Creation of the Office of Inspector General to strengthen oversight, accountability, and fraud prevention in state programs
✅ Property tax relief for Minnesota homeowners and families
✅ Temporary rollback of increased vehicle tab fees to provide affordability relief
✅ $40 million for the Family Homeless Prevention & Assistance Program (FHPAP) and housing stability efforts
✅ Human services protections to help ensure continuity of care for Minnesotans with disabilities
✅ Cannabis regulatory and testing reforms to strengthen implementation of Minnesota’s adult-use cannabis system

This legislative session was long, intense, and filled with difficult decisions, but we continued working every day to deliver for Minnesotans.

The session may be over, but my work is not done. I remain committed to fighting for SD38, for working families, for our communities, and for all Minnesotans.

Thank you for the honor and privilege of serving you.
