I toured the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center and had a chance to check in with medical providers and staff.

In addition to their network of 58 hospitals across the Midwest, I was interested to learn that Sanford has 1,100 active clinical trials and studies underway.

As a result of Trump Medicaid cuts, ER visits are up for uninsured Minnesotans, leading to worse health outcomes and adding strain on our rural hospital infrastructure. The federal government should partner with us so we can continue innovating in health care and fighting against rare diseases.

The rural health care tour continues, this time in Fosston, Minnesota.

Last year, nearly 1 in 4 patients at Fosston's Essentia Health facility (about 15,000 people, or 22.5%) relied on Medicaid - the highest share of any of Essentia's 12 hospitals in Minnesota. Add Medicare, and over 60% of those patients depend on government-payer insurance.

Rural hospitals like Fosston are being hit hardest by these changes. But the real cost is Minnesotans losing preventive and primary care access- and that means small problems become big and expensive ones.

Access to care shouldn't depend on your zip code or ability to pay.

Child Sexual Abuse Material is up 26,000% with the free use of AI on the internet.

As AI technology becomes more advanced, we need to regulate the industry, banning tools to 'nudify' images of people without their consent, especially children. To allow corporations to profit from these images being distributed is depraved and dangerous.

We're not going to let Elon Musk take us backwards.

Minnesota’s anti-nudification law is supposed to take effect on Saturday. It is being challenged in federal court by a company led by Elon Musk.

Protecting our climate is protecting our health. Minnesota DFLers are taking action to mitigate the impact of our warming planet. Still, we need Republicans to join us in confronting the science with solutions so we don't fall behind.

GREAT NEWS: Minnesota has seen a massive drop in catalytic converter thefts since 2023, when DFLers wrote and passed legislation to crack down on the crime and make it much harder to sell the stolen car parts that can cost victims thousands of dollars to replace.

Police across the Twin Cities Metro have reported drastic decreases in the crime since the law took effect.

In Minnesota, we’ve passed some of the strongest fraud prevention in the nation, including strengthening Medicaid fraud investigations, improving oversight, and modernizing IT systems. But as we’re experiencing in Minnesota, Trump's national and ugly campaign of retribution is on full display.

We’re not seeing any key program integrity measures being implemented by the federal government, including: claim-specific review, transparent standards, reasonable documentation requirements, timely decisions, due process for providers, and strong continuity-of-care protections for recipients. We’ve done our homework. Will they partner with us to get the 1.5 million Minnesotans on Medicaid the care they need?
