Earlier this month, we held our first 2026 Connected for Change event, Connected for Change: Finance, HR & Strategy Day. 30 pro bono volunteers came to share their expertise with 8 nonprofits working to strengthen their impact and operations. Together, volunteers and nonprofits collaborated on projects like financial modeling and forecasting, succession planning, inventory management systems, and communication and culture strategy. Thank you to the volunteers who generously shared their skills and expertise, and to Art, Heart & Hoofbeats, Avivo, Boys & Girls Club of the Fox Valley, Bricks to Bread, Family Media Network, FamilyWise, Living at Home Network, and WithAll for their partnership throughout the process.

We’re also grateful to our sponsors, Allianz, Ameriprise, Best Buy, and Thrivent, for helping make this day of volunteerism and community impact possible.

Help bridge the summer grocery gap in our community by hosting a food drive for Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners (IOCP). Between May and August, donations to the IOCP food shelf drop significantly, making community support especially important during the summer months. Gather coworkers, friends, neighbors, or family members to host a food drive and collect needed food shelf items and help ensure local families in need continue to have access to essentials. https://handsontwincities.galaxydigital.com/need/detail/?need_id=1260917

Help create more inclusive and accessible literacy experiences with Planting People Growing Justice Leadership Institute’s Leaders Are Readers program. They are seeking ASL volunteers to support children, families, and community members during monthly reading events through communication support, participant engagement, and accessible learning activities.

This is an opportunity to support youth literacy, inclusion, and community connection while helping ensure Deaf and hard-of-hearing participants feel welcomed and supported. https://handsontwincities.galaxydigital.com/need/detail/?need_id=1261849

Thank you to the Treasure Island team, volunteers, families, and community partners for their meaningful Week of Impact during National Volunteer Week. In partnership with HandsOn Twin Cities, volunteers packed snack packs for Boys & Girls Club of Rochester, assembled pet dental kits and handmade toys for River Bluff Humane Society, created school supply kits and encouragement cards for surrounding school districts, helped care for wildlife spaces at Carpenter Nature Center on Earth Day, contributed to affordable housing efforts with Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity, and supported Hastings Family Service in serving their community by prepping for their summer meal distribution program, sorting donated clothes, and repacking bulk produce.

From supporting youth and families to caring for animals and community spaces, this week showed the power of people coming together to strengthen communities. Thank you to every volunteer and partner who made it possible.

Thank you to HB Fuller volunteers for showing up in big ways last week for their Make a Difference Day. Across the Twin Cities, over 130 volunteers supported four local nonprofits through hands-on volunteer projects that made a meaningful impact in the community. Volunteers assembled rocket mounts and completed “salt sorting” for Starbase Minnesota, Inc. - St. Paul, organized materials at Leonardo's Basement, cleaned up indoor and outdoor spaces at The Salvation Army's Booth Brown House - Youth Housing Services, and planted and sorted seeds and seedlings with Appetite For Change to support access to fresh food. We are grateful for the energy and teamwork that went into each project and the impact it will have across our community.
