Horace is done blooming.

Horace is done smelling.

Horace is definitely not done selling merchandise.

If you missed the bloom, or just want a piece of one of the most talked-about events of the summer, the Como Friends Gift Shop is stocked with exclusive Horace apparel, mugs, stickers, keychains, and more.

The flower may be gone, but the legend lives on.

๐ŸŽถ Thank You for an Amazing Start to Groovinโ€™ In The Garden! ๐ŸŽถ

What a way to kick off Season 14!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last night for our first Groovinโ€™ In The Garden concert of the summer. We especially want to thank Innocent Reggae Band for bringing the incredible music, positive energy, and laid-back island vibes that made the evening so much fun.

Thank you as well to PolJam Food Truck for keeping everyone well fed with some delicious food throughout the night.

And a special shoutout to Mother Nature. After a torrential downpour right before showtime, she eventually got the memo and delivered a beautiful evening. We also want to thank all of you for sticking it out while the storm passed. Your patience was rewarded!

We'll do it all again next Wednesday at 6:00pm when Miss Georgia Peach takes the stage.

Same place. Same time. Same great summer tradition.

See you in the garden! ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŽตโ˜€๏ธ

We kick off season 14 of Groovin' In The Garden this evening featuring Innocent Reggae Band! Spread out a blanket, grab a bite to eat from the PolJam food truck and take in some amazing music!

What about weather you say? Well, we're watching closely, and a little birdy told us that "the thunder storm threat over Como will be over by 3pm, then we will will see storm clouds to the east but that will be moving away from Como and skies will be Partly Cloudy 5p, - 8pm with decreasing Humidity after 6pm."

If anything changes we will post it here.

Pack a picnic and dancing shoes, spread out a blanket & join us for these FREE outdoor concerts & activities in front of the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory every Wednesday, June 10 โ€“ July 29 from 6pmโ€“8pm.

๐ŸŒบ One Last Hurrah for Horace ๐ŸŒบ

After an unforgettable few days, Horace the Co**se Flower is wrapping up his 2026 bloom and heading back behind the scenes for a well-deserved rest.

More than 5,000 visitors came to see (and smell!) this rare botanical wonder. Thank you to everyone who waited in line, shared photos, followed the updates, and helped make this bloom such a memorable event.

Horace spent years preparing for a show that lasted only a few days, but what a show it was.

Rest easy, Horace. We'll be ready when you're ready for an encore. ๐ŸŒบ

๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿฆ With all the excitement surrounding Horace the Co**se Flower over the past few days, we almost let another important celebration slip by...

Today is Maji's 11th Birthday! ๐ŸŽ‰

While Horace has been busy making headlines (and making people wrinkle their noses), Maji has been doing what she does best: ruling her corner of Como with quiet confidence, enjoying sunny afternoons, and reminding everyone that you don't need a giant flower to be the center of attention.

Maji has called Como home since 2019 and continues to charm guests with her regal presence, powerful personality, and impressive ability to make lounging look like an Olympic sport. ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ˜ด

Join us in wishing Maji a very happy 11th birthday! Leave her a birthday message in the comments and help us show some love to one of Como's favorite queens.

๐ŸŒบ Horace Update โ€“ Monday, June 8 ๐ŸŒบ

As all good things must come to an end, Horace is beginning to close up.

While the bloom is no longer at its peak, a faint odor is still lingering in the air, and visitors can continue to stop by and see this remarkable plant as it begins the next stage of its journey.

We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who came out over the past few days. More than 4,000 visitors joined us yesterday to experience Horace, and we are incredibly grateful for your enthusiasm, patience, and willingness to wait in line to witness this rare event. You made Horace's bloom one to remember!

The story isn't over yet.

๐Ÿ“บ Tune in to KMSP FOX 9 Good Day tomorrow morning at 9:15 a.m. when Garden Guy Dale K will be joined by Como Horticulturist Jen for a special live look inside Horace.

During the segment, they will carefully cut a small window into the base of the spathe, the large petal-like outer sheath surrounding the bloom. This will reveal the inflorescence hidden inside, a fascinating structure containing hundreds of tiny individual flowers.

It's a rare opportunity to see what lies beneath one of the world's most unusual blooms.

Thank you again for following along on Horace's journey! ๐ŸŒบ

๐ŸŒบ HORACE IS OPEN! ๐ŸŒบ

The wait is over.

As of this morning, Horace is open and smelling exactly the way a Co**se Flower should. The bloom may continue to unfurl throughout the day, making today an excellent time to visit.

Because this rare event only lasts a day or two, we're opening early today so visitors have a chance to experience it while it's at its peak.

โฐ Horace viewing begins at 8:30 a.m.
๐Ÿšช Enter through the Japanese Garden gate on Estabrook Drive
๐ŸŒฟ The rest of the Conservatory and Zoo will open at 10:00 a.m.
๐Ÿ‘‹ Staff and volunteers will be on site to help guide visitors

Please be prepared for a wait outdoors:

๐Ÿ’ง Bring a water bottle
โ˜€๏ธ Wear sunscreen
โ˜‚๏ธ Consider bringing an umbrella for shade

We'll do our best to keep the line moving!

Have you ever smelled a Co**se Flower before? Today may be your best chance. After spending years preparing for this moment, Horace's bloom will likely last only 24 to 48 hours.

๐Ÿšจ IT'S HAPPENING & EARLY ACCESS SUNDAY! ๐Ÿšจ

Horace has officially started to bloom!

At 4:00 p.m. today, we noticed that our famous Co**se Flower was beginning to open. We compared photos taken throughout the day and sure enough, the bloom had begun! When we checked again before leaving at 6:30 p.m., Horace was open even more!

Because of this exciting development, we will be opening early tomorrow morning for anyone hoping to catch the bloom (and hopefully the smell!).

๐ŸŒบ Horace viewing begins at 8:30 a.m.
๐Ÿšช Enter through the Japanese Garden gates on Estabrook Drive
๐ŸŒบ Only the Horace viewing area will be open at 8:30 a.m.
๐Ÿฆ The rest of the Conservatory and Zoo will open at 10:00 a.m.
๐Ÿ‘‹ Staff will be on site to help guide visitors

Co**se Flower blooms are rare, unpredictable, and short-lived, often lasting only a day or two. If you've been waiting to see Horace, tomorrow may be the day you've been waiting for. But then again....this is Horace, and we've learned that Horace does things on Horace time.

See you in the morning!
