So proud to represent our community at the Capitol and to have delivered more than $70 million in funding over my two terms for local transportation, water infrastructure, and economic development projects in our district, including more than $13 million this year alone.

Can’t wait to see these projects come to life!

Senator Coleman secures $13.2 million in local infrastructure investments

ST. PAUL — Senator Julia Coleman (R–Waconia) has secured $13.2 million in critical local infrastructure investments for District 48.

This includes $4.7 million for Highway 5 improvements in the City of Waconia, $6.4 million for critical water infrastructure upgrades in Laketown Township, and $2.1 million for the Chanhassen Bluffs Community Center.

These projects are part of the bonding bill included in the end-of-session agreement.

“I’m thrilled to deliver more than $13 million in local infrastructure investments to our district,” said Sen. Coleman. “These projects will strengthen public health and safety, improve transportation for residents and businesses, and give a significant boost to our local economy. This is a major win for our community that will benefit us for years to come.”

The end-of-session deal also includes a one-year $250 million tax cut for Minnesota drivers through tab fee reductions, effective January 1, 2027.

Assistant Leader Coleman, Senate Republicans deliver tab fee tax cut for Minnesota

ST. PAUL – On Wednesday night, Assistant Republican Leader Senator Julia Coleman (R–Waconia) and Senate Republicans announced they delivered a quarter-billion-dollar tab fee tax cut for Minnesotans as part of end of session negotiations. In exchange for an infrastructure bill, along with commonsense fraud prevention reforms, tab fee rates will revert to the 2022 rate for one year, with a start date yet to be determined.

“$250 million is going back into the pockets of Minnesotans,” said Sen. Coleman. “Our goal this session was to make life more affordable for Minnesotans and stop the waste and fraud. I’m proud that we’re delivering real relief on two of the biggest issues facing families. Republicans are putting Minnesotans first, and this shows when we do that, we can actually get things done.”

Additional agreements on supplemental budget items, property tax relief, and funding for Hennepin County Medical Center are not part of the Senate Republican agreement but were agreed to by other legislative leaders and expected to pass. The legislature must pass all bills by midnight on Sunday, May 17.

It’s a great day for a school visit at the Capitol! Thank you to World Learner Charter School from Chaska for stopping by.

This session, I’ve authored bills to increase charter school funding so these schools have the resources they need to continue providing families with excellent education choices. Great to talk directly with these students!

This week during National Police Week, we recognize and honor the law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and all the officers who continue to serve and protect our communities every day.

Growing up, I saw firsthand what my dad went through as an officer. The camaraderie he shared with fellow officers, the stories of helping people in need, and even the bumps and bruises he would occasionally come home with. It’s physically and emotionally demanding work, often done without much gratitude. But this week especially, we are so grateful.

So thank you to all law enforcement officers for your courage and dedication, and to the families who stand beside them and support them through it all!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the wonderful moms out there! May your day be filled with love, laughter and joy (and if like me, your little ones decided to kick off Mother’s Day at 6 AM - lots of coffee ☕️)!

Manufactured home parks are home to so many Minnesotans, so I was really glad to successfully add an amendment to the Housing bill yesterday that will direct $5 million toward much-needed improvements in these communities.

No matter what kind of neighborhood you live in, every Minnesotan deserves safe infrastructure and a healthy environment.

I’m grateful to be able to support these hardworking communities!
