Last week, we celebrated Arbor Month at Newell Park with 35 volunteers, our staff, and our partners at Ramsey County! 🎉

Assistant Mayor Cedrick Baker and Ramsey County Commissioner Garrison McMurtrey helped kick off our event with impactful speeches about the importance of planting trees. Volunteers and staff planted 87 trees to increase the tree diversity in the park, and our arborists assisted participants in fun climbing activities! 🌳 Thank you to the Hamline Midway Coalition, UMN Tree Care Advisors, MN DNR, and the Ramsey County Climate and Emergency Preparedness for providing information, activities, and free giveaways to our volunteers. ✨

Last week, we planted six new trees at Horton Park with students from the Friends School of Minnesota as a part of their Arbor Day celebration! The students were full of joy and excitement to plant trees that will grow alongside them as they learn and play in Horton Park ✨

Two eastern redbuds, two pagoda dogwoods, and two mountain ash joined the canopy at the park and added to the mini arboretum's species diversity. You can learn more about the Horton Park Mini Arboretum and find a map of all of the trees in the park at https://tr.ee/HortonParkArboretum 🌳

If you want to experience the joys of planting a tree yourself, join us at our Arbor Day Volunteer Planting on May 15th! Registration and additional information can be found at https://tr.ee/ArborMonth05152026 🎉

Make sure to keep a safe distance from flames and smoke, stay on the path, and thank the hard working technicians laying down flames to protect our natural resources!
