The Countdown Begins: 1 Month Until Made in the Shade 5K Walk, Run & Roll!

If you like meeting new people or seeing old friends, our Made in the Shade 5K Walk is the place to be! And that is exactly why Cody from our Carver House loves going to the event each year! This will be his sixth year at the event, and he is looking forward to it!

“I like going because it is fun and I get to meet different people. I love seeing all the different art projects,” recalled Cody. His favorite memory from the event is walking around the lake with Darlene [our CEO], her husband, and Angel [his program supervisor] and talking to them.

He has been so invested in the event; he even has suggestions for next year!

This year, Cody is hoping to raise enough for a new dining table and chairs for the house. This is the heart of the Carver home, but the furniture is getting old and needs an update.

Help Cody — or any of our homes — reach their goal! Every home is fundraising for something that will bring added comfort, joy, or meaningful experiences to the people who live there. We've been having a blast at our day program this summer! ☀️

At PAI, Ted from English House and Kathleen from Ludden House put on their explorer hats and became geologists for the day as they dug into a National Geographic Gemstone Dig Kit. 💎🔎

Meanwhile, Sue from Foss House spent the day exploring Hmong Village in Saint Paul taking in the vibrant marketplace, unique shops, delicious food, and rich cultural traditions. What a summer of discovery! 🌎

The countdown is on! Made in the Shade 2026 is coming up, and we’re ready for another amazing day at the lake! Join us for a day of fun with free food, entertainment, and meeting new friends!

Made in the Shade is our annual 5K walk to support adults with disabilities. We join six other disability organizations like us for this annual day of celebration! Made in the Shade is truly a non-competitive walk, run, and roll, so anyone can join in the fun!

This year we will have the activities table and therapy horses once again for everyone’s enjoyment! Be sure to also vote in the Art Contest and grab some free lunch before enjoying music from The Showstoppers.
