We are still in a drought and the trees are feeling it 🥵

Please help the trees in your yard and in the boulevard as this drought continues! Three ways to water your trees weekly during droughts is with a hose, using buckets, or filling up a watering bag. 💦 With your help, our city's trees will have a better chance of making it through times of drought and heat stress! 🌳

Bulky Item Program Changes

As of July 1, 2026, Saint Paul residents in 1-4-unit homes no longer need to schedule bulky item pickups ahead of garbage collection days.

How to prepare your bulky items for collection:
1. Place item(s) out by 6:00 a.m. on your regular garbage collection day
2. Label items with the word, “Bulky”
3. Set items next to, but not leaning against, your garbage cart

All items must be emptied of food and any liquids. For example, water heaters must be drained, refrigerators must be emptied, small engines drained of oil and gas.

On your garbage collection day:
-The garbage driver will place a special sticker on your item(s) labeled bulky.
-Within two business days, a separate truck will return to collect the bulky item(s).

Mattresses, box springs, and metal bed frames must still be scheduled for collection. These items are not considered bulkies and are collected by our partner Second Chance Recycling. Mattress collection is FREE and does not count toward your annual 12 bulky item total. To schedule a mattress pickup, visit www.stpaul.gov/mattressrecycling.

For bulky item details, such as accepted items and size limits, call 651-266-6101 or visit www.stpaul.gov/bulky.
