Organizing the West Side neighborhood into local Block clubs with the common goal of building and maintaining a safe community for everyone; fostering an environment of individual ownership of the community and cross the barriers of socio-economic, educational and ethnic backgrounds. Working with residents and the SPPD to establish and maintain a relationship of trust and cooperation in order to reduce crime and violence on the West Side; WSSNC facilitates meetings with the SPPD and the community allowing citizens to bring their concerns directly to Police Officers. Providing community support through events promoting crime prevention each year WSSNC provides neighbors with the necessary support to facilitate a National Night Out celebration that is nationally recognized. West Side Safe partnered with District 8 Planning Council with a goal to reduce the number of vacant homes in their respective neighborhoods.
