A Special Honor. 🇺🇸

One of the most meaningful moments of the trip was the opportunity for a group of Nova Classical 8th graders to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.

Standing in quiet reverence, our scholars honored the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their respect, maturity, and dignity reflected the very best of our school community. It was a moment none of us will soon forget. 🇺🇸✨

Day 4: Memorials, Arlington & Mount Vernon
Our final day in Washington, D.C. provided opportunities for reflection and gratitude. Scholars visited the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Korean War Veterans Memorial, honoring those who served our nation. At Arlington National Cemetery, students experienced the profound significance of sacrifice and service. 🇺🇸

The trip concluded at George Washington's Mount Vernon, where scholars walked the grounds of our nation's first president and reflected on all they had learned throughout the week.

Day 3: Capitol Hill, Suffs & Reflection
Another extraordinary day in our nation's capital! 🇺🇸

Nova 8th Grade scholars toured the U.S. Capitol and the Library of Congress, experiencing firsthand the institutions that shape our democracy. They had the opportunity to meet with Minnesota Senator, Tina Smith. This time with her on the Capitol steps was a last minute addition to our itinerary, arranged by the Workshops Foundation. Our scholars had the opportunity to ask Senator Smith questions and hear about the legislative process. They also spent meaningful time at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, reflecting on stories that continue to shape our world.

After a family-style dinner at Carmine's, students attended Suffs at the National Theatre, a powerful musical highlighting the fight for women's suffrage. 🎭 A day filled with learning, reflection, and inspiration.

Day 2: Museums, the Pentagon & Nationals Baseball

Day 2 was packed with unforgettable experiences! Scholars toured the Pentagon, gaining a unique look inside one of our nation's most important institutions. They also explored the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the International Spy Museum, and The People's House Museum, deepening their understanding of our country's history, culture, and government. We also had time to visit the Pentagon 911 Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, The Washington Monument, and the World War II Memorial.

The day concluded with a Washington Nationals game, where students enjoyed America's pastime under the lights. ⚾

Day 1: Gettysburg, Old Europe, and Monuments

Our 8th grade scholars have officially arrived in Washington, D.C.! 🇺🇸

The journey began with a visit to Gettysburg, where students explored one of the most pivotal sites in American history and reflected on the sacrifices that shaped our nation. After a day immersed in history, scholars enjoyed dinner at Old Europe Restaurant, sharing stories and excitement for the days ahead. There was also time to visit the Martin Luther King, Jr. and the FDR memorials. A memorable start to an incredible week!

🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ Congratulations to our incredible Track & Field athletes on an outstanding performance at the Section 4A Championships held on May 28 and May 30!

We are proud to recognize our state qualifiers who earned their place at the State Meet through exceptional performances:

⭐ Boys 4x800m Relay – Eli A., Benaiah M., Lyle G., and Finn P.
(Alternates: Patrick O. and Henry P.)
⭐ Boys 1600m Run – Patrick O.
⭐ Boys 800m Run – Eli A. and Benaiah M.
⭐ Girls 800m Run – Maria O.

Our athletes also achieved some remarkable milestones:

🏅 4 school records were broken at the Section Championships.
🏅 29 of our 51 entries earned a season-best or personal-best performance.
🏅 The Boys Team finished 7th overall.
🏅 The Girls Team finished 5th overall.

We are incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and perseverance shown by all of our athletes and coaches throughout the season. Best of luck to our state qualifiers as they prepare to compete at the State Meet!

On Monday, our 5th graders celebrated a year of hard work, growth, and achievement with the annual Pentathlon—a day filled with special events hosted by staff! 🎉

Throughout the afternoon, students had the opportunity to choose from a variety of activities, including sports, crafts, games, and more. Smiles and laughter could be seen everywhere as they enjoyed this well-deserved celebration with their classmates and teachers.

The day concluded with the final Virtue Assembly of the school year, a meaningful tradition that honors our 5th graders as they complete their School of Grammar journey and prepare to take the next step into the School of Logic.

Congratulations, 5th graders! We are proud of all you have accomplished and look forward to seeing all that you will achieve in the years ahead.
