ESTHER Homes ESTHER Homes comes alongside pregnant women experiencing crisis by providing housing and resources. Our focus is to meet people where they are at.

ESTHER Homes is a maternity housing program serving pregnant women who are in crisis or facing homelessness. ESTHER Homes was established in 2015 in Saint Paul, Minnesota and is unique from other transitional housing options as we have staff living in the home providing community and supportive services. Our job is not to change or fix people. Our mission is to love and provide a space where peopl

e are reminded of their own ability, strength, and value as women, mothers, and people within their communities. We offer space to women throughout pregnancy and after birth until they are able to obtain long-term housing. Families have their own room in one of our houses where they have a safe and stable place to live; without needing to worry about how they will pay rent or where they will sleep, families can focus on achieving other goals for their health and well-being. We offer a community support structure that allows the women to focus on themselves, their dreams, set goals and achieve them. Staff live in our homes to provide consistent support, accountability, and encouragement. We meet with each woman weekly to discuss goals, the resources she needs and determine the phases she will walk through to accomplish this for herself and her family. We offer community, people to cheer on each family, and to sit with them in life’s challenges and to celebrate the beauty of her story! ESTHER Homes in a non-profit organization started by two women, Amber Hornsby and Rachel Hanus, who were inspired to meet women where they are at and walk along side of them.

When a woman reaches out in crisis, we want to be ready to say yes! Monthly partnership helps create that stability. It gives us the foundation to plan ahead, care well for the women already with us and stay ready for the next woman who reaches out. We are not asking one person to carry the whole vision. We are inviting 365 people to help carry it together through a monthly gift that feels meaningful and sustainable for them.

2:17 am - Crisis does not wait for the office to open.

Sometimes it is a phone call after midnight.
A mother facing a night that feels too heavy.
A baby who will not settle.
A hard conversation at the kitchen table.
A quiet, “Can you stay a little longer?”

This is the part of the work most people never see.

ESTHER Homes is more than a place to stay. The phone answered. The person who listens without judgment, sits beside her in the uncertainty and stays long enough to help her find the next step.

That kind of presence requires more than good intentions. It requires staff, strong systems, a home that is ready and a community committed to carrying this work with us - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Thank you, Wits Realty , for your partnership and for opening your space to ESTHER Homes for trainings, staff meetings & appreciation events

Because no mission, no matter how meaningful, happens without people.

People who show up.
People who say yes.
People who are willing to dig deep, dream bigger, learn, grow and sometimes simply keep going.

I’m especially grateful for the ESTHER Homes team. As we look toward another year, I’m thankful for the willingness to dream about what’s next and build toward it, while also having the grace and discipline to continue doing today’s work well.

There is so much that happens behind the scenes of a nonprofit. And so much of it comes down to people who believe deeply in the mission and choose to show up for it every single day!

This picture is a little snapshot of what community looks like at ESTHER Homes. 

A mama came home from the hospital after having her baby and a current and former mama sat with her - celebrating, sharing birth stories and encouraging her in this new season. One of them even prepared a meal for the three of them.

This is community. This is women caring for one another. This is what happens when women know they don’t have to do life alone.

ESTHER Homes shows up 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

And right now, we are unable to say yes to three women every week. We believe we can do more, but we cannot do it on belief alone.

As we look ahead, we are not pursuing growth for growth’s sake. We are building the foundation - the staffing, infrastructure, policies, and capacity that will allow us to carry the yes well…now and for the future.

And we need you to build it with us!

There is a moment in labor when she feels like there is NO way she can keep going and yet, somehow, an unknown strength rises.

And then baby is here.

Tears. Shock. Overwhelming love. She hears that first cry, looks at her baby and through all the exhaustion comes those words:

“It was all worth it.”

Today, we celebrate Mama N and the sweet arrival of her precious baby!

Now, as she takes these next few weeks to heal, rest and bond with baby, we have an opportunity to come alongside her.

A meal or gift cards may seem like a small thing, but in this moment - this transition, it says: You are not doing this alone. We see you. We’ve got you.

Last night was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together with a shared vision.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, asked questions, shared space with us and believes in the work of ESTHER Homes. And a special thank you to North House MPLS | Co-Working + Events for hosting us and creating such a welcoming space.

We believe communities are impacted when we choose to build tomorrow together. When we link arms with people who believe that no pregnant woman in crisis should have to walk alone.

That’s the invitation. To link arms. To make room. To show up. To build something together that is bigger than any one of us.

COMING THIS WEEK!!!!!!!

This week, we are thrilled to launch our new website and we couldn’t let the moment pass without expressing our deepest gratitude to Fractional Marketing .

Thank you for your support, dedication, creativity and the countless hours of time and energy you poured into making this website a reality. You sat with us, listened deeply and helped us uncover the words to truly capture the story…our heart, mission and vision. Then, you thoughtfully brought it all together into a clear and welcoming space where others can be invited in.

Throughout this journey, one lesson has risen to the surface: clarity matters.

✔️ Clarity in how we share the story matters.
✔️ Clarity helps others understand our mission and how we show up.
✔️ Clarity creates room for others to see how they can show up, too.
