Six years. What was true then remains true today: George Floyd should still be alive.

Despite a divided legislature, House DFLers delivered real results for Minnesotans this session: saving HCMC, $40 million in rental assistance, increased property tax refunds, and protections for our public programs from fraud.

But the GOP blocked key priorities of Minnesotans. Republicans refused to support a single gun violence prevention bill. They ignored after survivors, students, doctors, and families who came to the Capitol begging for action. They also failed to acknowledge the harm of Operation Metro Surge and would not support any legislation to help our communities recover from this overreach.

The contrast couldn't be clearer. DFLers will keep fighting for safer communities, affordable health care, and an economy that works for everyone.

This is one of the biggest, most impactful policy wins of the YEAR. All session long, DFLers were adamant that we needed to pass legislation to save HCMC β€” and we just did.

For nearly two weeks since the Senate passed it, House Republicans have hidden the comprehensive gun violence prevention bill. Literally hiding it away in a drawer somewhere. We're now at the final day of the legislative session, and they still refuse to tell Minnesotans: where's the bill?

It's unfathomable that Republican leaders choose to keep hiding the bill – and hiding from Minnesotans where they stand on keeping people safe. They are running out the clock this session, hoping people will just forget about this issue. We know communities have experienced too much trauma, tragedy, and heartbreak for that to happen. DFLers are committed to keep fighting for the responsible gun laws Minnesotans are demanding.

🍳πŸ₯šToday, the House unanimously passed a bill to allow food shelves and other charitable food programs to accept and distribute donated eggs after their sell-by date, as long as the eggs meet strict safety requirements. It's a Grade-A step we can take to expand food access.

I hope you find my floor speech in support of the legislation to be eggcellent. 🍳πŸ₯š
