Pete Beach Public Library is located at 365 73rd Avenue (about two blocks from City Hall), was founded in 1951 as the Long Key Library by the St. It became a municipal library when the City of St. Pete Beach was incorporated in 1957. Today, the Library is a division of the City's Department of Finance. It has been a member of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative since 1989. The 8,200 square foo
t building was constructed in 1969, and partially renovated in 1995. Daily activities for the staff of three Librarians, a Library Assistant and five Library clerks include processing library cards; charging, discharging and shelving materials; collecting fines and fees; signing up patrons for computers and programs; and arranging for local reserves; answering general reference and readers advisory questions. Most books and a growing number of other materials are now cataloged and prepared for circulation via a vendor contract with the Baker & Taylor Company. Pete Beach Public Library Website:
