Pete Beach Public Library is located at 365 73rd Avenue (about two blocks from City Hall), was founded in 1951 as the Long Key Library by the St. It became a municipal library when the City of St. Pete Beach was incorporated in 1957. Today, the Library is a division of the City's Department of Finance. It has been a member of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative since 1989. The 8,200 square foo

t building was constructed in 1969, and partially renovated in 1995. Daily activities for the staff of three Librarians, a Library Assistant and five Library clerks include processing library cards; charging, discharging and shelving materials; collecting fines and fees; signing up patrons for computers and programs; and arranging for local reserves; answering general reference and readers advisory questions. Most books and a growing number of other materials are now cataloged and prepared for circulation via a vendor contract with the Baker & Taylor Company. Pete Beach Public Library Website:

Summer reading is in full swing! This week we made dinosaur eyes out of modeling clay and other craft supplies. Everyone had a blast stretching those creative muscles. Art programs are a great way for us to encourage creativity and imagination, but it’s also a way to support fine motor development which in turn helps with skills like handwriting, typing, tying shoes, etc.

Our kiddos also got social and worked on their friendship skills. We worked on introducing ourselves to our neighbor and sharing our favorite dinos. The kiddos were challenged to work cooperatively and share materials. Some kiddos even helped each other mix clay to create brand new shades! Check out some their cool creations!

Looking for something fun to do as a family?

Join us in August as we begin our "Read Together Book Club"! This special program is for caretakers and their kiddos age 7-12, where we'll read the bestselling novel "The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell" by Chris Colfer. Whether you have an avid reader or are hoping to invest in your child's literacy journey we'll set out together on August 26th for a magical adventure.

You and your child can read the book before our meeting, either together as a family or independently. Then join us to discuss the story and enjoy fun activities inspired by the book. This is great opportunity to encourage reading in your home, while also connecting with your kiddo through a shared reading experience.
