With people taking advantage of the warm weather and enjoying the outdoors, we have had an increase in reports of dog bites. As a reminder, city code requires dogs to be within your control at all times when off private property. You are ultimately responsible for your pet's actions.

Strategies to keep all of our community safe, including our furry friends:

- Always leash your dogs in public areas
- Maintain physical control of your pet at all times
- Be mindful of others who may not be comfortable around dogs

Case update!

The St. Peter Police Department, with support from the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force, conducted an extensive investigation into a fatal fentanyl overdose that occurred in St. Peter in November 2024.

On March 13, 2026, Robert Tauqeer Johnson was found guilty of third-degree murder, along with multiple controlled substance offenses, in connection with this incident.

The Nicollet County Attorney’s Office prosecuted the case over several days, and we extend our appreciation to their attorneys for their dedication and diligent work.

Two of our officers are taking the plunge this weekend for a great cause!

This Saturday, Officers Hughes and Detective Krzmarzick will be braving the icy waters at the St. Peter Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics Minnesota. The Polar Plunge is an incredible event that helps provide competitions and inclusive opportunities for athletes across our state.

We’d love to see our community come out to Hallet's pond and participate! If jumping into freezing water is not for you then you can always cheer on the participants and celebrate the amazing athletes that this event supports. If you can’t attend but still want to make an impact, you can donate directly to the officers’ fundraising pages and help them and area law enforcement reach their goals.

Every contribution—big or small—makes a real difference for Special Olympics athletes.

Thank you for supporting our officers and this outstanding cause!

Show your support for team Front Street Freeze & the Polar Plunge by making a donation on their fundraising profile!
