Heads up to all vendors and small business owners: scam posts recruiting vendors for Shopapalooza Festival have been circulating this weekend. We've received nearly a dozen emails about them already.
Shopapalooza Festival is real — shopapaloozafestival.com — but these recruitment posts are not from us.
Legitimate posts about Shopapalooza would only come from the official Shopapalooza Festival or LocalShops1 accounts, or from my personal account (Ester Venouziou). We rarely do vendor outreach anyway, because our spaces are nearly full. Remaining spots are reserved for sponsor-level businesses and St. Pete brick-and-mortar shops.
A few things to know: if someone is asking for payment via Zelle, CashApp, Venmo, or similar apps, that is a sure sign they are not affiliated with our event. Do not send money. Also, if the flier you see looks overly-stylized and AI-generated, it's also a sign it's not ours. We use real artists for our flier designs.
Please share this with your business friends, and if you spot anything that looks questionable, feel free to reach out directly.
