With the Gasparilla Pirate Invasion just a day away, your safety is our top priority.

WEATHER ALERT:
Boaters should expect hazardous conditions with rapidly worsening wind and seas. Winds will begin around 17-23 mph (gusts up to 29 mph) with gale-force winds of 40-46 mph by the afternoon. These conditions will create very rough waters. The cold temperatures add a serious risk of hypothermia. All boaters, especially those in smaller vessels, should carefully consider the risks before heading out.

Top Safety Reminders:
🚫 Boat Sober: Never drink and boat.
❄️ Monitor the weather: Conditions can change quickly.
🦺 Wear Your Life Jacket: It can save your life.
📂 File a Float Plan: Tell someone where you're going.
🛟 Check Your Gear: Ensure radios & safety equipment work.

Law enforcement and the U.S. Coast Guard will be out in full force to ensure a safe event for all. Let's make this a Gasparilla to remember for all the right reasons!

The Coast Guard, Coast Guard Auxiliary and partner agencies are scheduled to enforce a safety zone for the Gasparilla Parade, Saturday, on Tampa Bay from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Mariners are advised to be aware of a developing weather situation that will create hazardous boating conditions, especially for smaller vessels. The National Weather Service forecasts deteriorating marine conditions with winds of 23 to 29 mph, gusts up to 35 mph, and very rough bay waters. These conditions can pose significant risk to the boating public. Given the forecast, all boaters, and especially those with smaller vessels and limited experience, are urged to evaluate their plans and prioritize safety of their passengers.
