Historian’s report, from Life Scout Vivian:
“This campout was extremely fun. I got to hang out with my friends and see younger Scouts crossover and join our troop. We taught fire skills and ran games. I think it was a highly fun experience and other people should definitely come do it in the future. If they have the option, I loved meeting all the other troops that I haven’t seen in a while and the packs. I overall love it when troops come together and make one really big event so I thought that this whole thing was really cool. I think everyone had a great time and I’m excited to go again next year.”

Historians report from Life Scout Vivian, Troop:

This camp out was very fun overall the scouts made a lot of advancements with ranks and we spent a while picking up trash and helping out with conservation in the community. It was an overall great experience and I’m so glad I went. I think everyone had a great time at Fort De Soto and we can’t wait to go again.

Troop 285 picnic

[A few weekends ago], we had a picnic where you could bring a friend to learn about scouts.

Once people started showing up with a friend, the picnic started, and most people went to the playground and goofed off. When food was allowed to be taken, people started eating and when they finished eating, they went back to the playground. It seemed that everyone had a great time, then, at 6:00 pm, the picnic ended and everyone went home.

Another great week of summer camp on the books! The week was fun filled, productive, slightly feral, and spirited. Troop 285 Scouts self-determined themselves to the 'Fun Troop' at camp, which was heartily substantiated by the regular stream of visitors to the campsite.

This year every one of our Scouts who attempted archery or riflery qualified, leaders completed 9 trainings, hikes and adventures were taken, conservation service given, ranks were earned, and Scout bonding and friendships soared to new heights. The time spent at camp was as beautiful as the scenery.
