St. Petersburg Fire Rescue delivers service through four core program areas: Prevention, Rescue, Suppression, and Training. Our Excellence Awards recognize personnel who consistently demonstrate outstanding professionalism and performance in the line of duty.
In March 2026, crews from Medic 7, Truck 4, LR 13, and Sunstar Paramedics responded to a patient experiencing an ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). From arrival, crews operated in seamless coordinationโrapidly assessing the patient, initiating cardiac monitoring, and delivering critical pre-hospital care.
Medic 7 was dispatched at 4:14 PM and declared a STEMI alert at 4:23 PMโless than 10 minutes after dispatch. ๐๐
Advanced care continued en route, with clear communication to the receiving hospital ensuring cardiac specialists were prepared upon arrival. Their calm, focused response set the tone for a smooth transition of care to Emergency Department and Cardiac Cath Lab teams at St. Anthonyโs Hospital. โค๏ธ๐ฅ
This response exemplifies the Out-of-Hospital Chain of Survivalโearly recognition, rapid activation of 9-1-1, and high-quality care. The patient and his family later visited Fire Station 7 to personally thank the crews, a powerful reminder of the impact of their work.
