CSTB Hosts Hiring Event for Construction, Trades and Transportation Industries

The Apprenticeship to Career Empowerment (ACE) Program

For 18- 24 year old out of school youth.

The Apprenticeship to Career Empowerment (ACE) program is a “earn while you learn” program in that CareerSource Tampa Bay (CSTB) pays your salary for 24 hours of work at an employer’s worksite and then pays for your formal training for the remaining 16 hours in the work week. You gain valuable experience at the worksite and learn in a formal training environment.

There are eligibility requirements to participate in this program.

The ACE program has some seats open in the next ACE classes for IT Help Desk and Business Operations Specialist. IT and IT related occupations are one of fastest growing industries in Tampa Bay Area and both positions offer training in that area. The training times under the ACE program are 12 weeks for IT Help Desk and 8 weeks for Business Operations Specialist. As I stated before, three days a week you will receive “hands on” training at a worksite with a local employer earning $15 per hour. Then you will receive two days of classroom training with the ACE program paying for the cost of training.

Out next classes are Business Operations Specialist which starts on Thursday, May 26 but with Memorial Holiday, we can seat Business Ops students thru June 2nd when the training portion starts.

IT Help Desk has two upcoming classes available, the first class starts on June 6th and the second class starts June 20th.

Class Overview:
Business Operations Specialist: Not sure what area of work you want to do. This program has you covered. Every office in every industry needs what we call “Power Computer Users.” This program will teach you the in-depth skills you need to be a master at Microsoft Office, from front-desk associates to bookkeeping specialists. This 8-week program is instructor-led and hands-on and is designed to cover the most popular computer applications used in today’s businesses. The emphasis in this program will be on developing customer service skills, learning Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Intuit QuickBooks.

IT Help Desk is a 12-week tech boot camp that quickly connects students with little-to-no technical experience to in-demand IT support jobs. Through fun and interactive virtual classroom training, you can earn three valuable credentials, establish employer connections, and received personalized tutoring and coaching. Students will prepare to become entry-level IT Support Specialists, with graduates earning more than $17 per hour on average. Successful graduates will receive the CompTIA A+, CompTIA IT Fundamentals, and IBTA Business Communication certifications, and may also have the opportunity to connect with IT recruiters through the TechWorks Employer Partner Network.

Future classes include: Cyber Security which is tentatively set for a June 16th start and Digital Marketing which is set start at the end of June

Position Title: Yard Jockey- Forklift Operator (Full-Time/Evenings)

Job Description:

Primary Job Accountabilities:
Jockey trailers under direction of supervisor or foreman/ load trucks as needed and all other duties as assigned.

Prepare for day:
Complete VCR for jockey truck and forklift (if applicable)
Organize and clean work area

Trailer jockey:
Move trailers from lot to dock doors and back to lot as directed
Work with foreman and supervisor to move raw material loads to doors as needed
Install/Remove Trailer Stands as necessary

Trailer loading:
Review BOL for product to be loaded
Complete final certification for all outbound loads
See foreman for out of stock items

Complete load: Wrap any partial pallets when complete
Process paper work in NIS (National Inventory System) or hand to supervisor
Stage pallet and/or load into truck when ready

Clean up:
Complete partial pallets and put away mixed pallets
Maintain proper housekeeping standards in work area

Requirements:
