The Salamanca School District Seneca Youth Dancers (SYD) invite students and families to our 2026–2027 SYD Sign-Up Social & Remember the Removal Fall Bash!

In collaboration with the Seneca Nation Remember the Removal (RTR) Team, we’ll gather for an evening of food, learning, community, and social dancing. 🧡

Salamanca High School families are invited to join us for Financing Your College Education on Wednesday, September 9 at 5:30 PM in the LGI.

Scott Ahrens from the NYS Department of Financial Services, along with the SHS Student Support Center, will cover FAFSA information, grants and scholarships, determining college costs, types of loans and repayment options, and your questions.

💰 With the FAFSA opening October 1, this is a great opportunity for students and parents to get informed and prepared for the college financial-aid process.

We’re excited to welcome Chef John Haley to the classroom! Chef Haley is teaching an 8th Period Foundations of Flavor Culinary Class this school year.

Twelve students will have the opportunity to enjoy a year-long culinary experience, building their skills, exploring flavors, learning kitchen fundamentals, and discovering the art of creating great food.

There’s nothing quite like the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! ❤️

This morning, we had the joy of welcoming students back at both our Main Campus and Prospect — and what a wonderful start it was! From smiling faces walking through the doors to the excitement of seeing friends, teachers, and staff again, our buildings were filled with the energy of a brand-new school year. 😊

Today is more than just the first day back. It’s the beginning of new friendships, new opportunities, new challenges, and new memories waiting to be made.

To our students: Believe in yourselves. Be kind. Ask questions. Try something new. Work hard. And most importantly, know that we are cheering you on every step of the way! 🌟

As everyone settles back into the school-year routine, please remember to slow down, stay alert, and watch for school buses — and, even more importantly, WATCH FOR STUDENTS! 👀

Kids may be walking, biking, crossing streets, or waiting at bus stops, especially during the busy morning and afternoon hours.

🚌 Stop for school buses when required
🚸 Pay extra attention at crosswalks and bus stops
📵 Put the phone down and stay focused
🐢 Slow down in school zones
👧👦 Always be on the lookout for students

A few extra seconds of caution can make all the difference.

🎒✨ TOMORROW IS THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, WARRIORS! ✨🎒

Thursday, September 3rd is the first day of school for our students, and we can’t wait to see you!

A successful school year starts with a successful first day! Families, here are a few things you can do TONIGHT to help your student start the year off strong:

🌙 Get to bed early! A good night’s sleep will help students wake up refreshed and ready to learn.

🎒 Get everything ready tonight! Pack backpacks, choose clothes, and make sure anything needed for school is ready to go. A little preparation tonight can make tomorrow morning much easier!

🥣 Start the day with breakfast! A healthy breakfast helps students stay focused and energized. And remember — FREE BREAKFAST is available at school!

⏰ ARRIVE ON TIME! Attendance Matters!

🏫 School Start Times
• High School — 7:45 AM
• Seneca Intermediate — 7:45 AM
• Prospect Elementary — 8:30 AM

🚌 Riding the Bus?
Please help your student:
• Be at the bus stop a few minutes early
• Wait in a safe location away from the roadway
• Watch and listen for the bus
• Wait until the bus has completely stopped before approaching
• Follow the driver’s directions and bus safety expectations

📚 Every Day Counts!

Families play an important role in helping students have a successful school year. One of the best ways you can help is by making sure your student is in school, on time, every time!

Whenever possible, please schedule medical, dental, and other appointments outside of the school day. If an appointment during school hours cannot be avoided, try to minimize the amount of instructional time your student misses.

🚌📚 SCHOOL BUS SAFETY REMINDER! 📚🚌

Captain Tina Darling from the City Of Salamanca Police Department remind everyone that school buses will be back on the road Thursday, September 3rd for the first day of school! 🎒✏️

Please slow down, stay alert, and remember these important rules of the road:

🟡 YELLOW LIGHTS = SLOW DOWN & PREPARE TO STOP
Flashing yellow lights mean the bus is preparing to stop to pick up or drop off students. Do not try to speed past the bus!

🔴 RED LIGHTS = STOP!
When the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended, motorists must STOP as required by law. 🛑

👧🧒 WATCH FOR STUDENTS
Children may be entering or exiting the bus and crossing the roadway. Be patient, eliminate distractions, and never assume a child sees your vehicle.

🚗 Give school buses plenty of space.
A few extra seconds of patience can help prevent a tragedy.

As our students head back to school, we all have a responsibility to help keep them safe.
