Sale Creek Volunteer Fire & Rescue responded Saturday morning to the Retro Hughes Road area after reports of a vehicle fire located approximately one-half mile off the roadway near a gated access point.

Upon arrival, crews located a pickup truck fully involved in fire, along with a small brush fire that had spread into the surrounding woods. Firefighters quickly extinguished the brush fire to prevent further spread and then turned their attention to the vehicle.

The vehicle fire was brought under control and extinguished without injury to responders. Crews remained on scene to check for hot spots and ensure the fire had not extended further into the wooded area.

No further information at this time.

Crews were out on the north end of the district this evening flowing hydrants and checking water flow.

Hydrant testing helps us identify potential issues, verify water availability, and make sure hydrants are operating properly before they’re needed during an emergency.

If you happened to see water flowing from a hydrant or into a nearby ditch, it was part of the testing process.

It’s not the most visible or exciting part of what we do, but it’s an important one. Taking the time to check hydrants now helps ensure they’re ready when they’re needed most.

Sale Creek Volunteer Fire & Rescue responded this evening to Mayflower Road after a tree was reported down across the roadway during periods of heavy rainfall and rapidly rising water.

While crews worked to remove the tree and clear the roadway, responders encountered significant runoff and fast-moving water flowing across portions of the road and drainage ditch area. Conditions on scene changed rapidly due to the continued rainfall and saturated ground conditions.

Incidents like this serve as an important reminder that flooded or partially flooded roadways can become dangerous very quickly, especially at night when water depth and roadway conditions are difficult to judge.

Please use caution during periods of heavy rain, especially on rural roadways prone to flooding and washouts. Never attempt to drive through standing or moving water.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported during this incident.

Sale Creek Volunteer Fire & Rescue is monitoring the potential for additional heavy rainfall and localized flooding across the area this afternoon and tonight.

A Flood Watch will go into effect for Hamilton County at 2:00 PM and remain in effect through late tonight. Forecasted rainfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour may lead to rapidly changing conditions, especially in low-lying areas, near creeks and streams, and on roads with poor drainage.

Please use caution if traveling during periods of heavy rain.

A few reminders:
• Never drive through flooded roadways
• Slow down during heavy rain and allow extra stopping distance
• Watch for debris, standing water, and washed-out shoulders
• Avoid parking or stopping near swollen creeks and drainage areas
• If you encounter a barricaded roadway, turn around and find another route

We have already seen multiple rounds of rain over the last several days, and it will not take much additional rainfall to create hazardous conditions in some areas.

Monitor trusted weather sources and have a way to receive warnings overnight if conditions worsen.

In the event of an emergency, dial 9-1-1. Our crews are on standby and prepared to respond if needed.

FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for our area through late tonight due to excessive rainfall and the potential for flash flooding.

Rainfall rates may reach 1 to 3 inches per hour, and with ground conditions already saturated, flooding could develop rapidly in low-lying areas, near creeks and streams, along roadways, and in locations with poor drainage.

Residents are urged to exercise caution when traveling today and tonight:
• Do not attempt to drive through flooded roadways
• Remain alert for rapidly rising water levels
• Monitor local weather updates and official warnings
• Be prepared to relocate to higher ground if necessary
• Remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown

Sale Creek Volunteer Fire & Rescue will continue to monitor conditions closely and respond as necessary.

In the event of an emergency, please call 911.

Please remain safe and stay weather aware.

Sale Creek Volunteer Fire and Rescue responded Friday morning to the 13000 block of Tonja Lane for a report of a tree limb down on power lines with a possible electrical fire inside a residence.

Crews investigated the scene and used a thermal imaging camera to check the walls, finding no active fire. The homeowner had already shut off power to the residence prior to crews arriving. The incident was determined to be related to electrical service issues caused by the downed power line.

All residents safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

Please stay clear of downed power lines and contact 911 to report electrical hazards.
