Recently officers from Elsinboro Fire Company had the honor of attending the celebration of life for one of our beloved residents and longtime supporters, Liz Yerkes.

Liz was a generous and compassionate friend of our fire company for many years. Her unwavering support helped strengthen our mission and support the volunteers who proudly serve this community every day. She truly embodied our motto, “Neighbors Helping Neighbors,” and her kindness touched countless lives both within our organization and throughout the community.

In recognition of her extraordinary generosity, friendship, and lasting impact, we are proud to announce the dedication of our hall in her honor. Moving forward, it will be known as the Liz Yerkes Hall.

During the service, Chief Sean Elwell shared remarks reflecting on Liz’s incredible legacy of service, compassion, and community spirit. Her support was never simply about donations, it was about believing in people, service, and helping others in their time of need.

Because of Liz’s continued commitment, our members were better equipped to answer calls, train, and serve those who rely on us during difficult moments. Her legacy will continue to live on through the work we do each day and through the many lives she impacted with her kindness.

On behalf of everyone at Elsinboro Fire Company, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for her years of friendship and steadfast support.

She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever appreciated.

EFC had the opportunity to participate in a joint drill night with Salem Fire Department last night. Crews spent time pre-planning the Salem Senior Village Apartments, reviewing building layout, access points, and emergency operations. We are always excited to seize opportunities to prepare for emergencies and strengthen our partnerships with neighboring departments. Thank you to Chief Ayars and SFD for the invitation and hospitality.

Graduation day! Today we had the opportunity to host our 8th graders at EFC and celebrate their completion of our Future First Responder Program. Today’s program was focused on recognizing their hard work and dedication, while also making sure we had a little fun along the way.

Students ate lunch with our members, toured the fire station and apparatus, were presented with certificates of completion, and even witnessed firsthand how first responders respond to an emergency alarm.

We wrapped up the day with a friendly gear relay competition between EFC members and the students, with the EFC members taking home the win!

Congratulations to all of our graduates, and thank you for being part of the future of our community. 🚒🚑
