This year's legislative session was full of important progress — from strengthening Oregon's public defense system and expanding early literacy supports, to improving access to mental health care. We've put together a detailed newsletter that breaks it all down!

I'll also be joining Representative Levy and Senator Broadman for a town hall on Sunday, August 24th at 1:00 PM at OSU Cascades. We'll share takeaways from the 2025 session, answer your questions, and hear your ideas. I hope to see you there!

Email from Town Hall August 24th Dear Neighbor, As your state representative for House District 54, it's an honor to serve Bend and bring your voice to the State Capitol. The 2025 session wrapped up

It was a pleasure to have the team from Mosaic Community Health Center visit me at the Capitol for Oregon Primary Care Association Advocacy Day. Their commitment to providing high-quality, accessible healthcare for all in our district is truly inspiring. From medical and dental care to behavioral health services, Mosaic ensures that no one is left behind, regardless of financial situation.

What’s even more impressive is how they go beyond just healthcare – addressing social determinants of health like housing, food insecurity, and providing support for mental health and pediatric services. As Bend continues to grow, I’m proud to stand with organizations like Mosaic, who are working tirelessly to meet the needs of our community.

I look forward to continuing to support their efforts and making sure that everyone in our district has access to the care they need. Thank you to the Mosaic team for all you do!

If you know Representative Kropf, you've probably seen his iconic blue vest! So, in the spirit of April Fools’ Day, we decided to have a little fun and unofficially declare April 1st Blue Vest Day at the Capitol!

Staff, legislators, and advocates all joined in on the joke, rocking their best blue vests to match Rep. Kropf’s signature look. We even commemorated the occasion with special stickers and his favorite flavors of La Croix! Safe to say, it was truly the vest day ever at the Capitol.

A huge thank you to constituent members of the Oregon League of Conservation Voters (OLCV) and Oregon Conservation Network (OCN) for their tireless advocacy to protect our environment and wildlife.

On Monday, we saw their work’s impact with the unanimous passage of HB 2978 out of the House Committee on Agriculture, Land Use, Natural Resources and Water. This bill, which aims to reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions and protect animals on our roads, is one step closer to becoming law. It will now head to the Joint Committee on Ways and Means for a fiscal analysis.

Your support and dedication as stewards of our community are essential as we continue pushing forward to create a safer, more sustainable future for Oregon’s wildlife.

Students made their voices heard at the State Capitol this month!

The future leaders of Oregon, seen here standing before the dais of the house floor, advocated for pro-environment legislation. A Key focus of their advocacy was HB 3143, which promotes coexistence with beavers. These students conducted thorough research and shared the vital role beavers play in our ecosystem. From creating wetlands that enhance biodiversity to improving water quality and mitigating flood risks, beavers are nature's engineers!

Thank you, Cascade Academy students, for your engagement and commitment.

Want to learn more about HB 3143? Check it out on the Oregon State Legislature website and subscribe for updates so you can support this important legislation.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Moms and Students Demand Action for making the trip to the state capitol and advocating an end to gun tragedies. Your collective presence made a strong statement, and it was inspiring to witness such dedication to protecting the safety of our communities.

A special thank you goes to the students who joined us. Your engagement on the issues that matter to you, especially those that impact your safety and well-being, was truly moving. You reminded us of the importance of listening to the voices of young people, and the need for change that respects their right to learn without fear.

Several students shared personal stories about their first memories of lockdown drills in schools, and the deep fear they felt in places that should be safe for learning. These powerful stories highlight the urgency of this issue, and I am committed to continuing the fight for solutions that prioritize the safety of our children.

I encourage all student advocates to keep pushing for change, and to continue raising your voices on this issue. Together, we can create a future where every student can feel safe in school.

Yesterday, I had the honor of carrying House Bill 3195 on the floor to support Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs). The bill passed almost unanimously. These organizations provide essential services to families in cases where there is a question of child abuse.

From medical exams and forensic interviews to family advocacy and mental health support, CACs provide services, training and prevention programs that help protect children. Locally, we’re lucky to have Bend’s KIDS Center who do this work for our region.

This bill frees up funding we already approved in 2024, ensuring these centers can effectively continue their vital work. I’m proud to support them!

We love having visitors in our office, and sometimes they bring us stickers. To celebrate Oregon businesses and organizations for their engagement and advocacy, we now have them prominently displayed in our office. As much as we love our stickers, we love our guests even more. Thanks for sticking around!
