🥵 This heat wave is here to stay for a bit. We wanted to remind everyone of some critical, life-saving tips during these brutal temps 🥵

HYDRATE - Just drinking water isn't enough. Making sure you get salt and electrolytes is key. There are so many different sports drinks and hydration packets out on the market now and they are sold everywhere.

AIR FILTERS - When have you changed your air filters in your home, your car, and anything else that moves air? If you can't remember you probably need to do it! Clogged air filters can make systems work extra hard and put an overload on these systems making them operate inefficiently and dangerously.

TAKE FREQUENT BREAKS - It is extremely easy to get overheated and dehydrated in these temperatures. If you are working outside alot, make yourself and those around you take frequent breaks in the shade to hydrate and rest your body.

OVERLOADING ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS - Anything that uses electricity also produces heat. When there is a lot of extra heat in the air anything that uses electricity runs extra hot. It is so easy to buy outlet strips and surge protectors and just keep plugging in so many of the everyday items. The more you plug in - the more power is used - and electrical 🔥 fires tend to happen when temperatures outside are extremely hot or extremely cold.

SMOKE AND CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS - Are they working? Have you cleaned them out? Remember we tell you often that these detectors will accumulate dust, pollen, and small insects in them and they need blown out on a regular basis to keep them operating properly.

INSULATION - Is your home, shed, or business properly insulated? Adding extra insulation in your attic, outside walls, and around windows and doors can majorly help improve keeping the right temperature inside your home or business. It saves money and helps with efficiency.

IF YOU SEE SOMETHING - SAY SOMETHING - This saying goes for so many different situations. In regards to the extreme temperatures, keep an eye on your family, friends, your coworkers, and anybody else that is out. Is your neighbor mowing the yard and showing signs of heat exhaustion? Go take them a water and make them take a break. The community is a better place when everyone helps each other.

GRASS FIRES - Grass, weeds, and underbrush fires can start extremely easily when temps are this high and we have extended stretches of little to no rain. If you are parking off of the pavement, DO NOT park in high grass or weeds because the already hot exhaust on your vehicle could start a fire underneath it and put you in a dangerous situation. Also don't forget about not flicking ci******es out the window - 1 improperly discarded cigarette can cause a large fire.

EMERGENCY/BACKUP POWER - Do you have a generator or battery backup for critical electrical systems? There are tons of options at all different price points. Find something that works and get it. You will be glad you did when the power goes out.

FINALLY - The extreme heat is here, but in a few months we will start the extreme cold weather. Most of these points can be applied during the winter months also. Get educated. Get prepared. Stay informed. Help others. 🙃
