We were honored to have members of the American Legion Post 68 and the Utah National Guard present the colors prior to the concert last night.

Their commitment to America and the spirit of patriotism they bring to every event make these occasions more meaningful.

Thank you for helping us celebrate our freedoms and the values that unite us. ❤️🇺🇸

Recently, I have seen some unfortunate misinformation and criticism directed toward our Salem Police Department. My first instinct was to simply let it pass. My second—the same. My third was to speak up in support of the men and women who serve and protect our community every day.

As mayor, I have the opportunity to see firsthand the dedication, professionalism, long hours, and genuine care our officers have for the people of Salem. They willingly step into difficult situations, often at personal sacrifice, to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents. Their commitment to this community is remarkable.

I believe it is important to recognize the tremendous good that our officers do each day and the positive impact they have on our community. So today, I would like to provide an opportunity to focus on gratitude. I invite you to share your gratitude for our amazing Police Department in the comments below.

I am proud of the dedicated professionals who serve Salem. Chief Gurney, his officers, and their support staff work hard every day to make our community a safe place to live, work, and raise our families. They have earned our appreciation, respect, and thanks.

So please join me in taking a moment to recognize their service and let them know how grateful Salem is for their daily sacrifices.

Took the time to call me personally to have a conversation.

Came to my office to create a relationship and learn about Salem.

Anyone running for this type of position and takes that kind of time and shows that kind of interest will have my vote.

With new district boundaries and my name appearing on the ballot for voters who may not yet know me, I wanted to take a moment to reintroduce myself and share my story.

I was raised in a working-class family where I learned the values that still guide me today: hard work, personal responsibility, faith, and service to others. I grew up in a single-wide trailer in a small rural town, paid my own way through college, and earned my undergraduate degree in agriculture from Southern Utah University with the help of an FFA scholarship.

Before becoming an attorney, I worked directly with Utah farmers and ranchers as a soil conservationist. That experience shaped the way I see public policy because I saw firsthand how decisions made by the federal government can affect Utah families, landowners, farmers, ranchers, and small businesses.

I later earned my law degree from BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School and built my career fighting for Utah on public lands, water, and local control issues. I served as a Deputy County Attorney in Washington County, a Public Lands Attorney for the Utah Association of Counties, and a Staff Attorney for the Washington County Water Conservancy District.

Before I was elected to Congress, I served as Chief Legal Counsel to Congressman Chris Stewart, where I worked to advance conservative policy and earned his trust. Today, I am proud to represent Utah in Congress and continue fighting to help families keep more of their hard-earned money, secure our border, defend Utah values, rein in Washington spending, and hold government accountable to the people it serves.

My story is the story of the American dream, where a middle child of a middle-class family who grew up in the middle of nowhere can work hard and get elected to Congress. I hope to earn your vote so I can keep working hard for our state and our district.

We’re proud of you, Rowan! 👑
