Here's a preview of the heavy tropical downpours and storms heading our way tomorrow night.🌧️

Tropical Storm Arthur will bring an increased flooding threat to the Chattahoochee Valley, with widespread rainfall totals of 3-5 inches possible through Friday. Localized flooding may develop, especially in low-lying and poor-drainage areas. A Flood Watch is in effect through Friday.

In addition to the heavy rain, a few strong to severe storms can't be ruled out. The Storm Prediction Center has placed our area under a Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather, with damaging wind gusts being the primary concern. An isolated tornado also cannot be ruled out.

Now is a great time to make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts. Stay tuned to the WTVM Weather App and our on-air updates as we continue tracking the latest changes.

We have "Potential Tropical Cyclone #1" on the south Texas coast this afternoon, potentially becoming a tropical depression or weak tropical storm in the next day or two. Tropical storm watches have been hoisted for parts of the southeast Texas and south Louisiana coasts ahead of the storm. The storm is expected to make landfall and weaken later this week and then get shunted northeast towards our area by an approaching frontal boundary. Regardless of how organized or disorganized it'll be when it reaches our area, it'll bring renewed chances for heavy rainfall Thursday and Friday and perhaps a low-end severe weather threat with the increased shear and spin aloft. Madelyn will be along this afternoon with the latest on the forecast for the rain today and then the chances later this week! -Dana
