While the current version of the Skipper will end in September with the expiration of funding and the current contract with Via, City staff will continue to work to – hopefully – put us in a position to be able to issue a new RFP for a future contract with ongoing, sustainable funding.

It may not happen immediately, but we see the value of the Skipper and want to do what we can to keep this type of transportation option available here in .

Through a combination of newly acquired one-time funding and service changes, the Salem Skipper – the City’s on-demand ride-share service - is able to be extended through September 30, 202

At last night’s School Committee meeting we held our annual celebration of retiring educators.

This year’s event honored 16 retirees who brought a combined 317 years of service and dedication to students. Our schools, our district, and our city are the better for their commitment to our kids, and we wish them all nothing but the best in their well-earned retirements!

It was a delight to recognize High School’s four Unified Track and Field State Champions at tonight’s School Committee meeting for their amazing and inspirational season!

After a number of years’ delay, closing on the City’s former Senior Center building at 5 Broad Street is now complete!

The new owners will soon begin a project to rehabilitate the structure, creating new homes for and bringing in new revenues from both the sale and the growth in our property tax base.

Today I stopped by Bentley Street to chat with neighbors enjoying the beautiful day. Thanks to the Mayor’s Office and Salem Public Library staff who also attended to share information about City programs and services through City Hall to Go.
