We’re looking for an experienced Dual Language Kindergarten educator to join Lee Elementary and help create a strong bilingual foundation for students as they begin their educational journey.

Meet Kate Henley, a Speech-Language Pathologist at Sumpter Elementary who has been part of SKPS for four years!

“Since joining SKPS, I have been at the same elementary school where I’ve built deep relationships with staff and watched my students grow. I love the variety that my school offers: beyond articulation and fluency, I work primarily with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) users in our self-contained classrooms. SKPS is a great place to start my career and has allowed me to grow my confidence and skills as an SLP.”

Continuing our celebration of National Occupational Therapy Month! Meet Michelle Vossen, an Occupational Therapist serving Chavez, Hallman, Scott and Swegle Elementary schools, who has been part of SKPS for six years.

“I have spent the majority of my life living in the Salem-Keizer area—attending Swegle, Waldo, and McKay—and this community has a large part of my heart. I am so glad to be able to give back to it through my work as an OT in our schools. I love that I am able to work with such a variety of students and make a difference in how they access their education. Every day I get to learn from the students and grow further as an OT.”

School-based OT focuses on the functional performance students need to access their full school experience, from navigating the curriculum to building social routines. Our OTs prioritize meaningful participation and ensure every student has the tools to thrive in their daily environment.
