🇺🇸 Salem’s Bicentennial was nearly 50 years ago—and now the Semiquincentennial is just over a month away!

As we prepare to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, we’re taking a look back at Salem’s Bicentennial festivities in 1976. Do you remember the parade? Were you there? We’d love to hear your favorite memories, stories, or photos from that historic day.

If you’d like to explore more of Salem County’s past, stop by the Salem County Historical Society Museum and Research Library. History isn’t just something we preserve—it’s something we share together.

Tell us your Bicentennial memories in the comments! 🇺🇸✨

On Memorial Day 1904, the people of Alloway gathered by horse and carriage to honor the soldiers who served before them. More than 120 years later, we continue that same tradition of remembrance, gratitude, and community. 🇺🇸

This historic photograph captures the unveiling of the Soldiers Monument at the Alloway United Methodist Churchyard — a powerful reminder that Memorial Day has always been about honoring sacrifice and preserving memory for future generations.

As we enjoy the freedoms they fought for, may we never forget those who gave everything. ❤️🤍💙

Our roof is getting an update with a fresh coat of sealant and paint!

Historic buildings require constant care and maintenance, and this project is an important step in protecting our collections for years to come. This section of the building houses our research library, so ensuring a strong, leak-free roof helps safeguard some of our most historic documents and materials.

A big shout-out to Sickler Built, LLC, for their awesome work and attention to detail!
