Heavy Rains and Flash Flooding Earlier In The Week Caused Water Rescues.

Heavy Rain this past Monday night caused members of emergency services to perform (2) different water rescues.

The first incident occurred around 3:08 am on April 28, near the fairgrounds, in Salem. Members of the Salem Fire Department responded and assisted a Conservation Unit with a boat, in removing five people, from two homes.

The second incident occurred around 7:23 am on April 28, near the intersection of N. Old Babe Road and N. Winslow Road, north of Salem. Members of the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department assisted an air boat that responded from the Brownstown Fire Department, in removing two people from a vehicle that was stuck on a bridge. The emergency responders also assisted in the removal of a hiker, who was hiking in the area and was walking through the flood waters.

Sheriff Brent Miller would like to remind everyone that anytime you are traveling and you approach water over the roadway to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
