🥪To support our community, we want to remind all families about the School Meals Application and share a few important updates that may benefit your family this year.

📋If you haven't applied in the past because you thought your household income was too high, please consider taking another look. Under the New Jersey Expanded Income Eligibility (NJEIE) guidelines, state income limits have broadened. This means more New Jersey families than ever before now qualify to receive school breakfast and lunch at no cost.

🚨 Important Traffic & Safety Updates for SMS & JFA 🚨

As we welcome our students back to school tomorrow, ensuring a safe arrival and dismissal process is our top priority.

To increase safety around our school zones, we have updated the traffic patterns surrounding Salem Middle School (SMS) and John Fenwick Academy (JFA). 🚗💨

Please review the map graphics and guidelines emailed earlier today to familiarize yourself with the updated routes, crosswalks, and parking restrictions before heading out.

How You Can Help Keep Our Students Safe:

📍 Review the Map: Check the attached diagram to ensure you are familiar with the correct entry points and designated walking areas.

👀 Slow Down & Stay Alert: With increased traffic at the start of the school year, please drive with extra caution, eliminate distractions and obey all posted signs and pavement markings.

🛑 Follow Crossing Guard Directions: Crossing Guards are present to safely manage pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Please follow their guidance at all times. 🦺

⏰ Allow Extra Time: Expect minor delays as everyone adjusts to these new routines during the first few weeks of school.

Tomorrow morning starts a brand-new school year! As we count down the final hours, the two best things you can do tonight and tomorrow morning to help your child succeed are simple: a great night's sleep and a nourishing breakfast.

Here’s a quick recipe for a smooth first morning:
😴 Rest Up: Aim for early bedtimes tonight to help conquer those morning jitters.
🫐 Fuel the Day: Start tomorrow with a healthy breakfast at home, or join us in the cafeteria—breakfast is served daily!
⏰ Take It Slow: Give yourselves a few extra minutes tomorrow morning to enjoy the start without the rush.

Everyone at JFA is so grateful to Estrada Landscaping for donating their time and expert labor to clear out our space. Thanks to their generous help, we now have an excavated planting area, fresh w**d barrier, and a completely cleared canvas to work with. Thank you for your support! 🤝💚
