Congratulations to our outstanding South Salem music programs on their remarkable achievements at the state championships:
🎶 Symphonic Choir — 2nd Place at the 6A OSAA State Championships
🎼 Symphony Orchestra — 2nd Place in the Full Orchestra category
🎷 South Salem Jazz Band — 4th Place at the 6A OMEA State Competition
🏆🎻 Chamber Orchestra — 1st Place in the String Orchestra category for the THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR!
These accomplishments are a testament to the dedication, talent, and hard work of our students, directors, and supporters. We are so proud of the excellence and artistry these ensembles continue to bring to our school and community.

At the end of April, exercise science and athletic training students from South Salem High School were treated to an experience of a lifetime at the Nike Sports Research Lab on the Nike Philip H. Knight Campus in Beaverton, Oregon. Students got to hear from researchers how they use sport science to inform the development of Nike athletic products and experience the science through hands on activities.

🌟 Congratulations to South Salem High School’s own Judson Birkel for being named the 2026 TechStart High School Technology Teacher of the Year by the Technology Association of Oregon!

Mr. Birkel was recognized for his outstanding leadership in computer science education, robotics, programming, AI literacy, and creating innovative opportunities for students to explore technology and engineering pathways. His passion for helping students discover and pursue their interests in tech continues to make a tremendous impact on our Saxon community.

STATE CHAMPIONS!!!

We are beyond proud to announce that our Chamber Orchestra earned the OSSA State Championship in the String Division, while our Symphony Orchestra brought home an incredible 2nd Place finish! 🎶👏

These students have dedicated countless hours of hard work, passion, and commitment to their craft, and their performances truly reflected the excellence of our music program.

You are cordially invited to join us at Boddy Manor in the Rose Auditorium for the classic Whodunit: Clue (High School Edition).

CLUE is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects. Led by Wadsworth – the butler - Miss Scarlett, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock and Colonel Mustard race to find the killer as the body count stacks up. Clue is the comedy whodunit that will leave both cult-fans and newcomers in stitches as they try to figure out … WHO did it, WHERE, and with WHAT!

Big congratulations to Ezra Gehringer!

Ezra’s incredible design has been selected as the official artwork for this year’s Awesome 3000!

We were excited to welcome Daniel Galvan from United Way of the Mid-Willamette Valley this morning, who surprised Ezra with a $300 award, a t-shirt, and a basket full of art supplies. đź‘Ź

His artwork is now featured on the event banner that will be used for photo opportunities at the Awesome 3000—be sure to check it out!

2026 Color Clash was one for the books. The senior class took the win which made them back to back champions. Shoutout to our leadership class and everyone who was involved the assembly was amazing.

South invites you to attend our Future Freshman Night on Wednesday, February 18th in South’s Rose Auditorium. The presentation in the Rose includes Principal Romine’s Welcome, information on our new 9th – 10th grade IB program (The Middle Years Program), as well as a Counselor Presentation. Spanish translation will be available during the presentation. Immediately after the presentation, our Open House will begin, featuring our sports, clubs, and academics in which Future Saxons can meet and ask questions of our teachers, coaches, and student leaders. If you have questions about any of South’s IB programs, please visit the IB table set up in the Rose Lobby during the Open House.
South’s Future Freshmen Night Schedule:
5:45 pm: Doors open at the Howard Street entrance to the Rose Auditorium
6:00-6:40 pm: Principal Romine’s Welcome, IB & Counselor presentation in the Rose Theater
6:40-8:00 pm: Open House
