Garten Services

Garten Services Garten Services is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides jobs for over 500 adults with disabilities in Oregon's Willamette Valley each year.

Through close relationships with local area businesses and Garten's own business enterprises, we recruit, train and place skilled workers with disabilities into our community's workforce. We help people with developmental disabilities and long-term mental illness become contributing taxpayers rather than dependents on social service programs. This frees up ever-diminishing social service dollars t

o be used in the support of higher-need individuals. At Garten, we augment community placements with employment opportunities in our own fee-for-services professional enterprises: confidential document shredding, commercial laundry, custodial, electronics refurbishing and recycling, mail services, recycling, hand packaging & assembly, and order fulfillment. We also provide a day activities program for seniors with disabilities who have aged out of the work force, helping them remain physically, socially and intellectually active—and engaged in their community.

Congratulations to our newest Landscape Professional Training Program graduates! We’re incredibly proud of this group and excited to see where their new career paths take them.

Over the course of the program, everyone got hands-on experience with irrigation, softscapes, hardscapes, saftey techniques and more. They even wrapped up with a resume workshop focused on how to market their new skills and experience as they take their next steps into the workforce.

They have the knowledge. They have the skills. And now, they're ready for WHAT'S NEXT.

Meaningful work goes beyond the paycheck. We always believe that purpose, building skills, contributing to the community, and knowing that what you do matters empower a holistic view of employment.

Amie has been a strong and dedicated member of our electronics recycling team as a battery sorter. It's hands-on work that requires focus, consistency, and attention to detail, and Aime brings those qualities to the job every day.

For Amie, she's proud of her work. It provides a sense of purpose and accomplishment while being part of a team and contributing to something bigger. She always comes in with a smile on her face and helps us build a culture built on collaboration and respect for each other.

Another sighting!

This time, our brothers on the mic were spotted in an undisclosed alley, looking like they had a little business to take care of.

We’re not saying they were on a mission. We’re not saying the mission involved a fedora from Hattawear, a shady deal, or a very questionable getaway plan if security came.

But we are saying they looked like they knew exactly what they were doing.

The question is: Are they here to cause trouble, or help create greater opportunity and independence for people with disabilities? Do they find trouble, or does trouble follow them? And why do all their photos look like they're staring off into the distance at nothing?

There’s only one way to find out.

The House opens soon, and now it’s time to bring someone new.

Bring a friend, a coworker, a partner, or someone who’s never experienced the Garten Gala before. Along with Oregon State Credit Union, we're ready to show them the Rhythm of Opportunity and what happens when a community comes together to create greater opportunity and belonging for people with disabilities.

They've been spotted!

Our House of Garten emcees were caught enjoying a delicious pint of cider at La Familia Hard Cider in downtown Salem.

Does anyone know why they were there? We don’t know. And quite frankly, we may never know.

Are they here to support greater opportunity and independence for people with disabilities? Or are they here to cause a little trouble? Or does trouble follow them?

Another golf tournament in the books!

Our Garten golf team hit the greens last weekend at the Re:Source Golf Tournament alongside Board Member Gabby and her husband, Ben!

We ended up in a respectable 12th place and had a great day on the course with even better company. Thanks to the Re:Source team for having us!
