It's so we are sharing some tips on how to get ready for your next road trip.

Take time to practice before driving on main roads and never allow anyone to ride in or on the trailer. Before you leave, remember to check routes and restrictions on bridges and tunnels. Consider the following safety tips each time you drive with a trailer.

Before you pull out, remember to check:
*Tire pressure on vehicle, trailer, and spares
*Trailer connections and chains
*Brake lights and signals
*Tie downs
*Mirrors

Before you leave home, make sure your bike is in good shape and that your safety gear fits correctly.

To inspect your bike quickly, remember to check your ABCs:
A - Air pressure
B - Brakes
C - Chain/Crank

To check your helmet fit, remember 2/2/2:

2 fingers from your eyebrow
2 straps around your ears
2 fingers fit between your chinstrap and chin

Bicyclists ride in the same direction as traffic, and obey street signs, signals, and road markings, just like a vehicle. Never text, listen to music, or do anything that can distract you from keeping your eyes, ears, and concentration on the road and traffic.

Checking your bike before you ride is easy as A-B-C

Air - Inspect your bike’s tires to make sure they have the right amount
of air pressure. Most bike tires have the optimal air pressure
printed on the tire sidewalls.

Check for any cuts or nicks and be sure the tire treads are not
worn down. Replace worn down or damaged tires.

Brakes - Test your brakes to make sure they stop your bike when you
squeeze the brake handles. Check that the brake pads are
not worn down and the cables are not damaged or loose. The
brakes should not rub against the bike while the wheel is spinning,
turning, or when you are riding.

Also be sure the quick-release levers that hold the wheels on
are tight.

Chains - Check your bike chains to make sure they are tight, clean,
lubricated, and rust-free. The chains should spin your pedals
and move freely, particularly when changing gears. A rusty
chain drags, changes gears poorly and could even snap.

Traffic safety is a shared responsibility. When driving, look out for bicyclists, never drive distracted, and look left-right-left and behind when turning right on red. Yield to bicycles as you would other vehicles.

If you see a bicyclist, maintain a safe distance: Bicyclists are most often killed by drivers who strike them with the front of their vehicles, often at high speeds. The higher the vehicle speed, the higher the likelihood a bicyclist will be seriously injured or killed.
