City of Salem, Illinois Recreation Department Recreation . . . the benefits are endless! The Salem Recreation Department's policy is to establish program fees to pay for the program's actual expenses.

The City of Salem Recreation Department is a nonprofit organization, with a budget based on City taxes and revenue generated through recreation program fees. This policy allows the City of Salem Recreation Department to offer quality programs at the lowest possible cost to the participant. Non-resident fees are established slightly higher due to revenue in the form of City taxes not being received from those residing outside Salem city limits.
