Warning, long read but well worth it. We would like to recognize a, now, former OYA youth that did so amazing and has such an inspiring story. This youth came to OYA after being in detention for 64 days. He started in and completed a program and then the tough decision was made, with his family on board, to not return him home but to put him in Foster Care. This youth was placed with a family from church. While there, and during his time in OYA, he did exceptionally well. During his time in Foster Care, he played football, baseball, wrestling and did shotput in track. He also completed driver’s school and obtained his driver’s license and earned his forklift certification. He also was able to do a mission trip in Panama where he helped build a school and was the translator while there. The PO had this to say,
it is evident that he has changed his life, and he is an example that people can change their ways if they choose to. He has become a remarkable young man. I am very proud of him.
We are so proud of this youth for the work he did and so thankful to the Foster Parents that stepped up and helped him out! This picture is the day he was released from OYA.
